We are allowed to recruit, advertise, and begin teams here as well, correct? Also, if certain teams wish to hold contests or anything, this would be the place to do it?

what exactly are teams? They are sets of 3 people who compete in tournaments together, right? anything else?

You are correct. However I would prefer we decide on some ground rules for teams before we go all out in making them.

so...are the ground rules going to be created by you or are they gonna be created by the forum?

Created by the forum.

Well, I think 3 members per team has been proven to work well, just in case you want to organize team tournaments in the future.

That sounds fun! :-D I'm gonna use this for 2-person teams for the PFQBL, too...once it finally gets started. xD

Anyone interested in "The Imperfects"?

Do we chose to enter competitions or if I make a team, I have to?

Would there be no way to track Pokémon usage? Leads and such like Shoddy does and that could directly tie into tier discussions.

Also I see member rankings, but where does the teams come into play? There are no team ranking rankings?

I guess though if the Pokémon used were recorded people may have a problem with team info being collected.

I think the actual team itself is much less important than how the trainer applies the strategies and moves that go with it, don't you? We also wouldnt want to give away people's teams.

I said about giving away the team part, what I meant is Shoddy keeps tracks of what Pokémon is used and what trainers lead with. It then gives them a number to look at that would lead them to look into the strength of a Pokémon and make future changes to tiers.

What if someone all of a sudden with Platinum found a way to make Parasect sweep on a consistent basis? See it's usage go up is a lot more reason to look into it then having a hand full of people say it is too strong.

But Shoddy is a computer program, this ladder is for actual WiFi battles.

So how would you keep track of everyone's team without them having to input them somewhere everytime they battle?

PM would be the best answer really. just like in Elite 4, how there is a team/time keeper.

doesn't really matter now though, people already started on battles and there'd be no way to keep up with whose battling with what.

That would be horrible. It wouldn't work nearly as well as it would with the E4, since the ladder battles are open to everyone and anyone.

The programming wouldn't be fun either, and who would want to sit through a bunch of PM's all day?

What I could do is create a database and a form system where members could submit their team information after each battle. Don't know if I want to do the extra work involved...

I don't think I do either...

What I could also do is have the top player each month right a strategy article detailing how their battles that month went down and what they think are emerging trends.

The thing is that I don't see the ladder system being used for research. I see it being used for fun and bragging rights.

The article could work if the leader is alright with sharing the team and strategy.

Hm, a doubles ladder. Maybe you should add Baby and UU to correlate with the gyms.

Yes! Most definately a UU ladder!
