GTS question

I've got a newbie question. I just started using GTS yesterday and have gotten 3-4 pokemons i needed but i've noticed something strange. When I look for certain pokemon they don't appear in the list to search for, why is that? Also when I put up a certain pokemon for trade, I couldn't ask for certain pokemon. Am I missing something.

The only pokemon you can search for in GTS are ones in your Pokedex. Meaning if you're trying to search for Mew, you won't be able to do it unless if you've seen a Mew or caught one. Hope this helps. =)
