Tani’s Treasures – My First Marill
Would it surprise you to learn that the first pokemon I received was not a poliwag or politoed?
Shocking I know, but my first pokemon was a marill my dad caught for me in a cave outside of Ecruteak.
I don’t remember why my dad chose to move to Ecruteak, (it was probably for work – he used to fish outside of town) but what I do remember is that there weren’t many kids.
Perhaps he felt guilty for dragging me away from Redgum, or that I needed some defence against the ghosts in the ruined tower (they never frightened me; the local lore was fascinating! I was curious more than anything else).
Whatever the reason, a fortnight after our arrival in Ecruteak, he came home from work with a surprise for me.
The surprise? You guessed it – a Marill, which I dubbed ‘Bubbles’.
Dad told me that he had seen a strange gathering of them, and they reminded him of me. Curious, I asked him “Why?”
He answered “Because, Tani, Marill looks small, but it is fearless! It looks unassuming, but it is very clever! It is an amazing pokemon with hidden potential, just like you, my treasure.”
He smiled at me as he handed me my first pokemon.
I was 7 years old, and his words have never left me, all these years later.
Bubbles turned out to be a wonderful starting pokemon, just as dad predicted. She was friendly, a quick learner, and her attacks had an unexpectedly large impact!
Bubbles and I have known each other for a long time. It has long been a desire of ours to show you an idea of how we started out. It is our great pleasure to present you with
My First Marill
These marill are all Jolly, and have the ability Huge Power, which doubles their attack potential.
They have the following moveset:
Aqua Jet – A STAB move, this attack lands before the opposing pokemon has a chance to prepare itself!
Rollout – Marill is a tough cookie, growing tougher all the time with this damage-increasing move!
Return – The true test of any trainer, Return is strongest when your marill loves you
Aqua Ring – Your marill can help you save your precious potions; just launch an Aqua Ring and he/she will gain 12.5% health each turn.
These marill will all come with an Exp. Share – Bubbles and I have been through a lot, from exploring the haunted ruins of Ecruteak to stepping off the boat in Slateport where you now find us, we have shared our memories and experiences.
Please help her children see the world!
