I would suggest using a couple of the following pokes:
Vaporeon - You already have a bulky water, but this one far outclasses blastoise, downside is no rapid spin.
Aerodactyl would be a supurb lead, giving you both speed, power, and a couple support moves.
(Taunt, Stealth Rock, EQ, Rock Slide
alakazam is unmatched in special attacking power, although gengar is very strong also..
Standard moveset for gengar includes:
T-bolt
Shadow Ball
Energy Ball
Hypnosis/focus blast
I would also consider perhaps:
Machamp (bulky dynamic punch is pretty good)
Starmie (Another special attacking option which can include rapid spin)
These are all very viable

aerodactyl as a lead should have a focus sash
for gengar if you go with focus blast in the last spot, use choice specs or expert belt
if you have hypnosis wide lens is good to help the accuracy.
Also, black sludge works just like leftovers on any poison typed pokemon.

Could also just use as support. HP getting low? Vaporeon's supreme HP and awesome SpD can usually allow a couple of Wish uses. Helps heal up that bulky Venusaur for another reign of terror.

XD I am a fellow fan of Leadactyl.

I prefer Gengar for straight offense. Double typing prevails in sweeping capability. Plus add in rapid spin blockage.

Machamp (bulky dynamic punch is pretty good)
Starmie (Another special attacking option which can include rapid spin)

I agree with Starmie. Most people go with some sort of set-up or rapid spin starmie, but straight up starmie has real prowess. You want to talk about type coverage, starmie has it. Youre usually going to hit with STAB or Super Effective damage. But with a surf/psychic tandem, expect some STAB SE quite often, especially in the OU.
Another viable gen 1 Poke is Jolteon. I know the SpA sweepers are getting redundant here, but that seems to be what happened to that gen as we evolved to DPP. Jolteon is a viable lead, countering with speed and hitting for STAB SE damage on Leadactyl. Basically its a battle of the speed ties and focus sashes.
If you want physical, try Dugtrio. Choice Banded Dugtrio is going to scare anyone.
And finally, if Blissey is out of the picture, Chansey is still usable. Even though it is NFE, it still has UU and even OU walling capabilities.

Don't forget Snorlax as a SPDef wall and I am a big fan of Tentacruel also.

Dragonite is popular, yes. However, I'm not a fan. Salamence out-classes it for one. And unless you have a Yache Berry or focus sash, its hard to set-up a DD. Ice moves are everywhere now, preventing those pesky dragons from DDing on you. And if you want to go another route other than DD, then some sort of Ice attack is bound to find you. I just have never liked the X4 Ice'd Dragons. Smogon has made it a standard to have just about every pokemon provide a means of disposing of them. This is when OU becomes EOU, extremely over-used, to the point where I just *yawn* boooooooooring.

both Jolly and Adamant are very viable natures. Its really up to you. Jolly will help you out-speed some dangerous counters. But Adamant will help out is very sub-par attack. I'm even indecisive about it. But with that Choice Band, Jolly seems to be the nature of choice.
Ariel Ace is of course recommended by the professionals, but I never liked it. I use a Dugtrio often on Shoddy. Try pursuit instead.

pursuit will catch gengar, cresselia and other levitaters (Specifically ghosts) for double powered damage as they try to switch out.

Except no one will try to switch out. At least not experienced battlers. Dugtrio's ability will block that attempt.

except that levitaters and flying types aren't affected by that ability, and many levitaters are ghosts which is why pursuit works so well on them.

Use Black sludge on Venosaur and blastoise the Leftover or Shell Bell. Now you have one extra item you can use.
