Have you ever visited Stark Mountain in Outer Sinnoh? I’m sure you have, well-travelled trainers that you are!
We (that is to say, my pokemon and I) just got back from there.
On Stark Mountain, wild Magby guard their favourite item with fervour. It looks like a building block and is entirely heatproof. Colloquially known as a “magmarizer”, this is the key to magmar’s evolved state, magmortar. Magby skin is so hot that it burns any pokemon that comes into contact with it, so one would assume the item remains safe until the evolved magby (now Magmar) is ready to make use of it.
Well... not quite, as it turns out!
I heard reports of magmarizers being wrenched from the magby’s grasp prior to their evolution into magmar, which puts their evolution in stasis. Wasn’t sure I believed the rumors until I witnessed one such event.
It seemed as if one moment the item was there – the watchful Magby’s vigilant gaze upon it, grasp firmly planted...
Then gone!
And who, you ask, was the culprit? Why, as I discovered, a very cheeky looking cyndaquil!

It burrowed up behind the magby, jumped out of the ground, stole the magmarizer, and rolled away with it down the hill!

The magby, of course wasn’t standing for that! It flared up... it began to glow, and it EVOLVED right there before my eyes!

The angry magmar turned and launched a flamethrower in the direction of the still-rolling cyndaquil thief. I almost couldn’t bear to watch!
But here’s what surprised me – the cyndaquil was unperturbed! In fact, it was now a rolling ball of flame!
“Of course!,” I murmured to myself
“Cyndaquil are flame-retardant and can’t be burned! Clever little critter...”
It looked pretty pleased with itself as it dashed away. The magmar, its attack foiled, now seemed despondent.
The cyndaquil’s behaviour seemed unusual to me; in past experience, they have always behaved rather timidly. So I followed it.
Well... long story short, the cyndaquil had friends nearby, and they were gathering the magmarizers as if they were building blocks, and building them up into what looked like two walls, with about a 5ft gap between them. The cyndaquil were doing what appeared to be training exercises – one cyndaquil would dash through the gap between them while dodging rocks and items that were being thrown from behind the walls.
I smiled to myself. Such innovation from these younglings impressed me. The only thing they seemed to be missing... was a trainer.
And That Is Where You Come In!
These boisterous cyndaquil are all in need of some guidance and training - all have been nicknamed in advance, and are guaranteed to have a 31 in at least one stat.
All are of the Jolly nature.
Because this moveset is not intended for competitive use, no IVs have been listed, although they are marked for the stats where the 31s occur.
In addition, all cyndaquil will arrive holding the item magmarizer, the little thieves just couldn't let them sit there in my bag!
