The Pokemon Battle Challenge system is now live. Please look for it on the menu and post questions, comments and concerns in this thread.
Friendly Battle = 1-6 EXP for winner
Betted Battle = 12-25 EXP for winner
High Stakes Battle = 25-50 EXP and loser's Pokemon for winner
Each battle also costs as many energy and will points as the potential EXP payout.

This is a bit weird.
I want to challenge you. But i go to challage and it says player id. I put in HMTKSteve and the pokemon and battle type. I clicked enter and it says invalid usage. I can't find how else to challenge???
On second thought. Instead of player id can it change to number. Since i have to enter their number like 1 for hmtksteve. Can you change it so you can enter the username instead.

How are the battles calculated? Is it best to have an even build or just building one or 2 stats?

So you cant use the pokemon you stole?

The battle mechanic is currently based on all stats with a variable for a chosen battle arena and a +/- 20% variable.
The battle arena is currently chosen randomly and each one has a varying effect on your stats. For example fighting on the Rocky Battle Arena enhances the Pokemon's Defense stat and effectively doubles it for purposes of the battle. If your Defense is high and you end up on that field you will likely win.
I will post a thread for battle arenas and will set something up to allow you and your opponent to choose a field and then the game will randomly pick between the two.
You challenge someone by entering their userID number. Yes, I can change this to username to make it easier.

Wish I was told that training costs are lowered as you gain levels. Then again I wish I had the common sense not to buy it in the first place. I guess I'll remember for next time and this post can be a warning for all those who attempt to spend money on their Pokemon right now.
Now I wonder how many levels it will take to make training a stat to level 3 affordable.
Again, I'm gonna remind people that this is a beta test. The point of beta testing a game is not to play and enjoy, but to find bugs and errors and report them, as well as figuring out what parts of the game don't work well (because unfair, too easy, too hard, etc) - so that the person making the game can fix any bugs, and make improvements to the game.
So when something like this happens, it's just a part of beta testing. Be happy that you could help by finding and reporting the error of the missing pokemon. :)

I play and enjoy the game anyway :p

I tried testing my poke in the Pokemon Farm, as we were testing he used a weedle UT. I used my Charmander (By the way its costly at the moment to train) with upgraded HP. And I lost, we tested again to see if what we were seeing was true and it was...

Too bad you trained one of your Pokemon's stats up, from what I've seen it isn't worth going from level 1 to 2 in a stat until you yourself are level 8 or higher. Because the leveling up for the Kanto starter stats is only like $10,000 or less (I'll most likely be a higher level than that when I spend money on it again so even less).

I can only have a caterpie. Maybe that is all that is allowed right now. Just curious, how do we know which attacks your Poké has so we can train up either ATK or SP.ATK?
Considering I lost about 50,000 buying Squirtles and now I have no squirtles.

Poke's do not yet have attacks. The battle system is more inline with the cartoon where Ash is famous for combining attacks and abusing the move known as "dodge it"!
At the moment it does not matter which one you train but by the end of the week it will.
BugCatcher6
06-28-2009, 11:22 PM
Also, the Caterpie has 45 base ATK, but in the real game it has 30 base ATK. All the other stats on Caterpie matches the base stats of it's Pokémon game stats.

So my charmander who I spent a lot of money on considering how little we have at this point has been waisted money as it is chance to win? It has 5/6 stats at lv 2 and keeps losing to Thors Supahweedle T.T
Bobreeder

...which is lvl 2 on all stats, just for clarification purposes.

I'm going to add some debugging code into the battle system so that it will send me event notifications when people battle. I'll have it enclude the information on the Pokemon and how well the RNG is working. If I see any major problems I will adjust the code.

so is mine, and mine just beat your whole team :P
Also, is there a way that you can:
A) make it stop sending notifications for when we send a battle, and
B) when the battle finishes...you can see who wins by looking at the EXP bar...

I take it since I can only have a Caterpie and I see everyone else talking charmander and such, it must be a level thing to have certain pokés?

I have a few decent ones, here's 2 of note:
lvl 63 Butterfree
lvl 72 Beedrill
I just started wondering: is there a level cap on the Pokemon?

I'm guessing you leveled up your Caterpie and Weedle as high as you could before evolving them? Must have cost a fortune!

My pokemons training costs are ridiculously high, is there a reason for this?
Sorry if this is the wrong thread, I can't really look around on my iPod.

Training is linked to your level versus your Pokés level and your stats compared to your Pokés. Once you level up or your stats grow, the fee to train your Pokés training cost should drop.
I just have no clue how people are high up in levels when I am still trying to make it to level 5.

Last night I went from level 3 to level 4, with 92 strength and 83 agility, and the cost for my squirtle's level 4 sp. Def went from 234k to 329k.... How does this follow the rule?
And I agree with you, how do people get so high?? I spent 3 days at level 3, and failed all my missions... I notice now the percentages have been changed, and I just got 8 exp, off a mission I attempted atleast 12 times, and failed. Sorry if my info is waaaaay out of date, I cant browse the forum on an iPod, but I am glad I can play the TRG.

At level 3 it gets easier, Buying a house helps. Just do the mission witht he highest % and then you will level up fast. And after you do the mission, Just level up str and labour up.

Ah cool, so maybe I should wait in battle my weedle further. I mean he can evolve later, but winning would be easier if he would be evolved already.

If a form of wide market trading isn't opened up soon, I've lost all hope.
We really need a choice of what attack to attack with. Steve if ya read this message, Please implement some way of actual battling instead of just "round 1: 12 hp" ect, I want it so you can pick an attack maybe worst comes to worst "Special Attack, Fast attack, Strong attack, Block" Block heals you up 10% and reduces there damage by 20%, [ HP + 10% - (Opponent attack - 20%) ] Strong attack is, an attack drawing from attack on your pokemon and your strength. [ ATK x STR x 0.001/ -1/-2/-3/x2/-12/-6/+3.... -Opponents ATK %= DMG ] The /-1/-2/ ect are random occurences, like less dmg, more damage Crit Hit. Special attack is [ SPATK x INTEL x 0.001/-2/-7/+8/x2/-12/-1/+3.... - Opponents SPATK %= DMG ]
Fast Attack is for when you want to hit them first its a little more complicated formula [ SPEEDxAgility x 0.0001 ]
ATK % formula: Guard x Def x 0.001 x 0.5
SPATK % Formula: Guard x SpDef x 0.001 x 0.5

but if he was to make a fast attack, wouldn't everyone choose that anyway? plus, then how would the opponents work when you attack them? (you might have said it, but i didn't see it in the huge block of text)

Fast attack doesnt allow critical hits, and always hits the same. + its 1 decimal place weaker then the other attacks
ATK %
SPATK %
Are your opponents interaction and how much you effect them.
