Is anyone noticing areas of abuse in the training system? I'd like to lock down any potential loopholes in the system.
MissingNo.

I have noticed no loopholes so far. The system is pretty straight forward. We could maybe add in that you can gain pokemon levels by winning battles, depending on the opposing pokemon. This could be similar to EVs. So if my Venusaur beats a someones Bidoof in a battle, it would gain one HP level. But I think that there is too much stat gains per level, and just fighting would abuse those gains.

I'll be honest, in my opinion implementing EV-training would be too much. I think it'd introduce too deep a level of micromanaging. We already have this as part of the actual Pokemon games, and while EVs do add more strategy to PvP, the battle system is also overall much more detailed. In the context of a simpler game, I think it would be easier, thematically appropriate, and perhaps also more equitable to forego that factor. Also, to invoke a slippery slope argument, what level of video-game-conforming detail gets added next: IVs? So we'll have new players buying dozens of starting Caterpie, looking for the one with the best genes?
I don't feel strongly that EV-training should not get implemented if there is a concensus to do so from the player base, either; but that's my initial opinion.

I agree, I think that the bttle system is next-to-perfect just the way it is.
