For a while ive been looking at different ways to chain dittos and I may still be finding them, but a thread can be updated and here are some methods I have found to be useful! These will involve Pros & Cons!

Method 1# Strong Powerd Pokes!

Now this method just involves bringing your strongest and most defensive pokes and throwing as many pokeballs as it takes to catch them!

Pros

Can survive longer!

Cons

If the moves are strong it can take you out!
You can waist a lot of money on pokeballs!

Method 2# Taunt The Ditto!

Dittos only move is Transform, meaning Taunting it means it cant attack or transform!

Pros

It cant steal your pokemons identity lol!
Can hurt itself with struggle slowly!

Cons

It can kill itself via stuggle!
Can still cost you a lot of money!

Method 3# Ditto Becomes Ditto

This requires a ditto over level 30 and it means a ditto is the lead!

Pros

The ditto cant attack!
It is defenceless!

Cons

Can take a long time and cost a lot of pokeballs!
Cant hurt the poke!

Method 4# Sleep, Para, Poison, Burn!

Status can help improve the chances of catching the pokemon!

Pros

If sleep is used the poke cant hurt you!
Improves chances of catching the poke!

Cons

If you use a status like poison or burn it can kill the poke if your not lucky!

Now if anyone else has effective methods post! ( I may have forgoted some)

Ditto when not Transformed cannot be paralysed, as it has the ability 'limber', which prevents that status.

One of my favorite methods is to immediately switch to a magikarp with only Splash - which ditto will copy, and then be easier to capture in a net ball.

I also have a Breloom with poison heal (so it cannot accidentally poison other pokemon) - it has the moveset False Swipe, Spore, Mach Punch and Stun Spore. I use Spore first, and then false swipe, and then throw the pokeballs..

Worth noting: Ditto takes on the catch rate of whatever it transforms into.
This means that it is not advisable to send out your strongest pokemon to stall it out, because it will be more difficult to catch!

Tani is right. If i want to catch dittos for random natures you just send out magikarp first.

If you are chaining and find a shiny you send out your stongest first and switch straight to magikarp so its transforms into it.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a random nature. You can have a fainted synchronizer in the first slot of your party and its effects will still take place on the ditto.

I'll Just to add a little to Tani's response.

If you want a specific natured ditto, then lead with a synchronizer. Then, like the wonderful Miss Tani said, send out the karp.

Now if I can remember correctly from my chaining days, all you have to due is throw a great ball and it should catch the ditto (as a karp) without any problem.
