I am working on an idea for a Pokemon Obedience school part of the game.

The idea is simple. Since rare Pokemon are hard to get and some rare Pokemon work best with a specific nature why not offer the player a chance to retrain their Pokemon into a better nature?

For a dollar amount that is tied to the level of the Pokemon (higher level Pokemon are more set in their ways) a player can move their Pokemon's nature towards the nature they want. It may take a few days of training but in the end you can get your Pokemon to have the nature you want them to have.

I like this idea, seeing as I got the elusive squirtle from a waaaaay back, in a somewhay glitched way, and it's got a + speed - sp atk nature...>.>

The school is now live.

Now we can all discuss which Pokemon should have which Nature!

Neat!

I did notice, though, that on the "index" (http://www.beta.pokefarm.com/pokemonobeschool.php) page, you misspelled "Obedience."

:/ Is the nature I get supposed to be random? Because I keep on clicking on Bold/Calm and getting anything but!

*finally settles on Modest*

Yeah...why does it let us choose the nature if we never can get it? It also seems that it will end up being way too much money for us to try to get a certain nature...i'm not wanting to pay millions just for a better nature...

Yeeeeeeeah... I did eventually get the nature I wanted after picking random natures that were *not* the nature I wanted, but... That school needs to fire whatever instructors I just paid $200mil to do their job poorly, and hire some good ones! :-P

It would be neat though, if there were like a small failure rate - like 5% chance your pokemon will learn the wrong nature. But not 100% chance, heh.

This is how it works:

Your Nature = X
Nature you want = Y
Pokemon Level = L
Attempt = A (2+times sent to school)
abs = absolute value

cost = abs(((x-y)*L)^L)

After figuring out the cost the game rolls a die which spits out a random between your Nature and the Target Nature. The further away the two natures are the less likely it will work.

So, if your Nature is four away from the one you want after training your nature will move between one and four steps closer to the one you want.

Can we please introduce a crystal 'guarantee' option to the Obedience School?

I don't mind paying money to renature my pokemon, and most of the time I do get what I aim for within a few attempts; but when I don't, the price gets very steep, very fast.

And then, at the end... sometimes I finish with a nature that is

A:/ Not what I wanted and
B:/ Too expensive to retrain to either neutral or what it began as

-----

When a pokemon costs upwards of 60million at the cheapest for just a chance of getting a more suitable nature, one begins to get the feeling that it will be crystals well spent, to pay maybe 5 crystals for a guaranteed nature.

Steve, is it possible to implement this somehow?

Above: Just an example of how it is for me at present.

waht is the pokemon?

And it would be hard to code that ion

Although it might be hard to code in, I believe that it would be worthwhile, if it were possible.
I am confident that I am not the only person who would make use of a 'crystal - guarantee!' option in the Obedience School, if it was available.

I posted because it isn't the only pokemon I have that is like that.

Yes, I could code in something like that.

How long would it take?
