(Apologies if this had been posted before--I didn't see it, LOL.)
There's actually a way to figure out what Pokemon is inside an Egg before hatching it. It's not an exact science, but it will definitely narrow down the possible number of Pokemon it could be.
In the PC boxes, the bottom-left corner of the top screen rotates between the highlighted Pokemon's item, type, Nature, and ability. Eggs will not show this information...normally. To begin the "trick," find an Egg in one of your boxes. Then, click the L or R button to move over to the next box, where a Pokemon should be (it won't work if you scroll over to a blank spot). After you're on the actual Pokemon and not the Egg, wait about three seconds until right before it changes, then click L or R to go back to the Egg. If you time it just right, it will show the typing of the Pokemon that's in the Egg. The same trick can also be used to find the Nature and ability of the Pokemon just by waiting longer until it's about to switch to the next message.
