Pokemon Gold ?Hacked?

My son recieved a pokemon gold cartridge from a neighbor. Strange things are happening on it.
1st
All the Pokemon have Pokerus. All of them.

2nd
When looking at the moves of the pokemon 9's appear in different places on the bottom of the screen

3rd
When entering a battle, I watched his Typhlosion show up with a Persian pic

4th
Upon winning the battle, the Typhlosion/Persian just kept leveling up to 200 something then started counting up from 1 (i guess it was 1 I wasn't watching)

Has anyone seen this before?

Yup, this is the result of the previous owner using Gameshark (a cheating device similar to Action Replay). None of the codes are active, but the damage from them is still there. If you restart the adventure, you shouldn't have these problems anymore.

I figured it was something like that. Thanks. I remember the gameshark. Do they still make those? *Googles it* Oh it's the same company as action replay. I didn't know that.

Just to be fair....I don't agree with the hacking thing....You know "cheaters never prosper"....I've never used one and don't ever plan too..... If someone ever touched one of my games with one, they better decide who will do the eulogy..... jk :)

:sad:my brother bought a gameshark, and i got so mad at him! i'm the one who owns the game, but he plugged that thing into my ruby and caused it to go wacko! now he wants me to make all the legendaries for him and send them through the pal park, then the GTS!!! i refused to do that, but some day, that gameshark is going to be trashed, cause that thing is greed building disease! how can nintendo let their games be trashed like that by another company???

i was asking another kid about what a pokemon called Missingno (short for missing number) He explained the effects are just like what you described.
it sounds crazy, the pokemon is caught with a blurred sprite. it changes into different pictures and when it levels up, it goes beyond level 100 and back. it is become a Khangaskhan eventually. he did not mention using a Gameshark but he pointed out there was a trick to catch it. i never tried cuz i dont want it.

you can either re-start the game or just release the missingno and see if the rest of the pokemon does the same thing.
