When figuring the multiplier for Pokemon in battles it is important to understand that ALL types are taken into consideration.

Example:

Venusaur vs. Golem

In a normal battle Venusaur would totally rock Golem's world and knock him out quite quickly (Grass moves are x4 vs Golem's Ground/Rock typing). However you must also take into account Venasaur's Poison typing, a type that Golem is strong against. The x.25 modifier from the Poison reduces Venusaur's overall advantage to x1.

The same holds true for Golem, his negative mods are offset by his positive mods which results in a x1 modifier for him as well.

Once moves are added in this will be a moot point because the typeing of the move will only result in an adjustment if the Pokemon is of the same type.

I'd like to thank MissingNo for bringing this to my attention.
