Just a few questions about starting a new game (this may also apply to previous games, I'm not sure):

In a new game, is your trainer ID the same?
Does your Friend Code stay the same?
If you trade your pokes over to someone else before you start a new game, and then trade them into your new game, can you still rename them?

Thanks in advance.

I believe the answer to your questions are No, No and No.

Logically, your friend code can't stay the same, because otherwise, all players with the same name would have the same friend code and they wouldn't be unique on wifi.

I also believe (I'm sure I've tried it in the past) that your trainer ID changes when you start a new game. Because that changes, you can't rename your transferred pokemon either.

Are you sure? I read in the instruction manual (yes, I'm that sad) that the Nintendo WFC treats your DS and game as one, and assigns it a unique code -- so in that case it shouldn't matter what you do in the game, should it?

Thanks for responding btw.

Hmm, if that's the case, then the friend code could very well stay the same. But I still believe your trainer ID would change and therefore you wouldn't be able to rename pokemon...

yeah ... thanks for the insight. I'll have to decide on names that I'll be absolutely happy with. Bollocks, this is gonna be hard ... most people would say "pish posh, a name's a name!" and to them I'd say "Shut up I'm weird!"

So yeah, thanks again.

no your trainer code changes, I started a new game and found you get a new one, because your history on wifi is erased so it's like the first tim you went on wifi with your game.

OK ... thanks Tom. In that case I'll have to update my friend code, so anyone who copied it down before should do it again. Well, not yet; obviously I haven't changed it. But soon, maybe this weekend.

Thanks guys.
