I have been wondering about this ever since I learned about EV's.

What will help a Pokemon survive an attack better?
Higher HP EV's or Def EV's?
Or in the case of special attacks S. Def?

On a further note, how much heath does a Pokemon gain for each 4HP EV's it gets?

I am sure that it is 1 like all the others.
It is just hard to be sure as personality does not play a factor.

It gains 1 point just like the others. That is why the IVs for HP have a different formula then the other stats. HP has no natural booster other then it's IVs. Having better Defense or Special Defense is better then high HP. Look at Blissey, very high Special Defense, HP, and low Defense. Blissey will fall faster to a physical attacker then a special, based on its defense not it's HP.
