To apply for an american university i found out i need to sit the SAT exams that american students sit, as we dont have them in england.

im pretty sure i know what the general sats involve (which is o.m.g. easy..), but what do the subject ones test?

i need to do 3 subject SAT II's to apply for places like harvard, and i was wondering what level of knowledge they test? is it just what is learned until the age of 16 or so? or does it go more advanced? (if so how far?)

also, does anyone know whether it would be better (in the universities' opinions) if i did maths 1, maths 2, physics as my subjects, or maths 1, physics, chemistry. (i will be doing an engineering major/course).

thanks for any help you can give me =)

Im 13 lol. I take the Stanford Achivement Test, which I hope you mean by SAT. SAT's involve these subjects (as far as I have been tested on a yearly basis.)
Vocabulary
Reading Comprehension
Language Skills
Math Concepts
Math Computation
Listening (skills)
Spelling
Science
Social Studies

you fill in bubbles from 1-4 answer choices, usually more in math.
probably more, and much harder stuff, lemme know if this is any help.

With the subject test you have to choose three of the offered subjectst to be taken, they can be anywhere from a language to a specific kind of math, they should be on a list somewhere if you go online.
