I've been thinking (again, lol). I really think that PokeFarm needs a group for their farmers. I mean, the site is mainly about farming, right? And no group for the farmers up to this day? lol

Anyway... I really think we need this to keep the site more organized. That way we can tell apart the real farmers from the, "Oh! This looks cute... Oh wait, I'm bored now..." type of farmers.

Perhaps certain requirements can be met to be an official farmer, like passing a simple test that checks to see if you know the basics of farming (like Buzz's questionnaire for the Apprenticeship Program), distributing a minimum of 50 Pokemon in a "prototype farm" (before making an actual farm), and maybe being an active PokeFarm Forum member for a certain period of time (maybe one month at least?).

And I suppose we can throw in a symbol and avatars for farmers to boot for distinction. I don't know what the symbol would look like yet, but yeah. What do you guys think?

Not a bad idea. I never started farming to get into a group. I figured if I made it onto the main site that would be cool. There will always be people that will try to do breeding just to get into the group. The only thing I could think of that would be a benefit for being in a breeder's group is a sub-forum in which you could discuss what you are going to be farmer next. That is just my opinion. There are alot of farms already that will only be around for one event and then you will never hear from them again. There will always be farmers that give a half attempt at farming and then if there was a group they would complain hey I breed Pokemon why can't I be in the group. It is not as clear cut as the Gym system. With the Gym you have to do something real to get the Badge, with farming there will always be bickering about why one person is in and another is not.

Yeah, that's what we need. An actual system to determine who's a real farmer and who's not. I'm still thinking as to how to get around that... With people having tendencies to be picky in all, we need a system that works well.

Well, after my previous farming disaster, I think that would really inspire people to commit themselves to their farms. If it happened I would love to try again! And when the next term of the apprenticeship program comes around, I'll be signing up!

I have to make it threw one round of the Apprenticeships event before I decide if there would be a second go of it. I am not the greatest teacher and I hope what I am trying to do will actually help people. Plus I think there are like 3 student no shows and 1 had to drop out.

I really want a Farming group. I mean if HMTKSteve approves of it, we can easily make the standardized test and keep track of the prototype farms. It's really mainly for organization, so we don't have all these abandoned farms scattered all over the place.

Well if we got a group for farmers we could do as the main site does. I believe they had a rule that there was 2 be 1 event a week, we could modify that to maybe 1 or 2 events a month. We could have a rule that there is a mandatory role call at the beginning of every month and give farmers one week to sign in and if they don't they lose their group status. I don't think there should really be a questionnaire like I had with my apprenticeship event. All those questions were basic knowledge, but for anyone that did not know the answer, they could be looked up online very easily.

@Buzz - Wait, okay 6 students...minus 3 equals 3...minus 1 dropout equals 2...

So is it just nana nettie and me left???

@Nak - I love the idea...maybe what we need is a farming panel of already established farmers here at the site that have to vote someone in and have the power to also vote them out.

Or maybe it could be something like in Harry potter where there are different groups within the school based on their strengths. IV's, Contests, Battle, Fun...etc.

I know at this point you want to write back saying I'm jumping to far ahead but I think part of the problem with defining a farmer is that we are taking all of those things listed above into consideration all at once...someone might want to exclusively breed Pokemon that do great in contest but would fail horribly in a battle.

Sorry about my ramblings...I feel very strongly about this site and I wish that some of the great ideas that people come up with would work better but this site is still young and we have to learn to crawl before we walk.

My problem is I don't care about crawling, walking, or even a brisk jog...When I commit to something I feel like taking it on full throttle...and not everyone’s life outside of this is that flexible...

Luckily my wife loves me and is very understanding...and she knows if I'm busy building teams for contest or doing Pokemon homework I'm not out spending money and toys or gadgets...

Gah!!! I'm rambling again...okay, bassically what I'm trying to say is...
"If you build it, They will come."

@HMTKSteve - If you don't mind me asking how often or how many people get invited.

Sorry, my curiousity got the better of me and I couldn't help but ask...you don't have to answer...

BTW @ Nana & Nak - Thanks the bravos

I just got Promoted today. I am kinda undecided on how I feel. On one hand this is what I worked for with my breeding. On the other hand I am so swamped right now with work and building a new house, that time is something of an issue. I am expected to do atleast 2 events a month. I like the way I have been doing things on the forum farm. I like the simple design of forum farming. I am so beside myself right now. I feel like I reach more people on the forum farms. Farmer's Markets are usually one day events and then try to make arrangements if you missed it. Not saying I don't want the spot on the main site. I am just beside myself trying to figure out how to run my Gym, My Farm, My Mod status, My house, My job, and keep time for my family. I will try it for awhile and see how it goes. I am thinking I can swing 2 a month. Also the one thing I will miss from the forum farms is the contact with other members. It seems like the main site is I am on trade me, thank you, good-bye.

While I am working on my debut Farmer's Market I will continue to do things around the forum. My class program is looking good.

WOW!!!
Congradulations Buzz!!!

I'm sure that it's pretty overwhelming now but that is great news!!!

Just because you have moved up to the majors doesn't mean you can hang out with us still right?

So yeah, take your wife out to celebrate this weekend!

That's like the next best thing to a bonus from work...that is if your jobs gave bonuses...which mine doesn't so moving up to the poke farm is pretty darn cool.

This thread was over 2 weeks old and as far as being on vacation or missing a role call, I don't remember saying it was a one time only deal.
