Now we don't actually know that is how it works.

Pokemon breeding is apparently very mysterious. :confused: The old folks running the daycare across three generations of Pokemon games haven't been able to figure out where all those eggs come from, we can't assume that we know any better.

Actually Aerodactyl falls into the same gender ratio as all Fossils and Starters. 87.5% Male and 12.5% Females. You can take any male or female and breed it with a Ditto and the offspring will be whatever the male or female Pokemon is.
