They are now immune to pokerus. Apparantly, they keep the EV boost that pokerus gives, but they can't pass it on to anybody else now.

Do they keep the boost forever?

Yes they do keep it.

Everyone here is correct. When you have the "PKRS" icon on the summary screen, you get an EV boost (the EV points you receive are doubled, and can be quadrupled by holding the Macho Brace as well), and you are infectious and can pass it off to adjacent Pokemon in your party. After several hours, I'm not sure exactly how long, the Pokerus clears up, the icon disappears and you are left with the little smiley face. When you have the smiley face, you still keep the EV boost, it is permanent, but you are no longer infectious, can no longer pass it off to others and can not be re-infected. If you wish to keep an infectious Pokemon, keep it in the PC. As long as it is in the PC the Pokerus will not go away.

okay, im kindof confused... but is the EV boost from the virus actually more than when you become immune to it?

No, the boost is the same both when you have the live Pokerus and when the Pokerus is gone and you have the smiley face. As soon as you contract Pokerus the number of EV points you receive from battle is doubled and it stays that way permanently, pretty much until you max out your EV points. The boost stays the same.

About the Pokerus Infectiousness:
If you want the pokemon who is infected with the Pokerus to stay infectious (able to spread it to others) you must have the infected pokemon in a PC box at the moments of 12 noon and 12 midnight. For example, if you are playing the game at 11:55 in the morning and you have an infected pokemon in your party and you want it to stay infectious, put it away in a box until a few minutes after 12 noon. Then you can take it out without worry that it will loose its PKRS infectiousness. The game keeps track of how many "12s" go past on the clock while the infected pokemon is in your party. After one or two "12s" go by, the pokemon "recovers" from the infection. But like Bott and others have said, the beneficial affects of the PKRS are permanent and last forever on the previously "infected" pokemon. I always keep a bunch of infected pokemon in my boxes and I always infect new, little pokemon right away, especially ones that I want to raise to be a big hitters. But keep in mind that all this happens according to the game's clock not real time as measured by your watch. Also remember that turning the game off does not protect any infected pokes that are in your party. When you turn the game back on it will note how many "12s" have gone by since the last time you played and "cure" the infected poke in your party if one or two have passed since the last time you played.
I hope this helps!

I don't know if this is coincidence but I seem to infect others with the PKRS when I switch pokemon in battle. In other words I have my lead pokemon with PKRS switch out and the poke that I switch in usually gets it. Just a thought.

I've also experienced similar experiences, except in my case it's with breeding and Pokerus. It seems like, while I'm breeding and hatching eggs, if I have anyone in my party with Pokerus adjacent to the egg, the egg winds up with Pokerus. it doesn't happen all the time, and I don't know if something else is causing it. When I'm hatching eggs I usually don't get into any battles or anything, but SOMETHING is passing it to the egg, I'm not sure what or how though.

That one happens because pokerus can be passed just by walking around I believe, although it's not as fast as battling.
The switching of pokemon presumably works because when you switch, your old lead is moved to slot 2 for the battle and the new one becomes slot 1. That means that they are adjacent for that battle, so pokerus can probably pass between them because of that.

So can eggs be bred with PKRS?

Kind of. You can walk around and pokerus should pass to them (I believe), or you could also hatch them and pass pokerus to the level 1 which hatches.

On the topic of spreading pokerus, does anyone else find it spreads easier to lower level pokemon?
Maybe i'm just unlucky but i had real difficulty spreading it to pokemon at level 100.

Pokérus is cured after 24 hours on the party from the time of infection; Pokémon cannot be cured of Pokérus if left in a PC box or are traded to Pokémon Stadium 2 or Pokémon Box.
Pokérus is mainly contracted from battles; there is a 2 in 65,535 chance of contracting Pokérus in battle. If a Pokémon in the active party has Pokérus, in each round of battle there is a 1 in 2 chance (1 in 3 in the third generation) that an adjacent Pokémon on the team will contract the Pokérus. The active Pokémon can also contract Pokérus in this manner if the first "bench member" has the Pokérus.
