Why does everyone feel the need to baton pass wish from pokemon that do nothing but affect their enemies stas, no their own. You can simply change!!!

cause the next poke you bring can get hit from the foe so you baton pass wish so it has perfect health and people baton pass wish on pokemon that are strong against the foe ´s type you are battling

Switching and baton passing, either way, the pokemon gets healed.

I don't know about other pokemon, but in an Umbreon set you would baton pass wish and mean look.

Wish does not always pass when you switch or get KO'd. It is guaranteed to pass with Baton Pass. I have a Wish Pokemon on my team and I always use wish when he is close to being KO'd and sometimes it passes to the next Pokemon and sometimes it just fades away.

I think it doesn't work if the recipient pokemon gets KO'd in the turn wish was supposed to take effect because of the battle order. ex
Both Pokemon attack
Wish would take effect
If a pokemon was KO'd then new pokemon would be selected
Does anyone have a battle order guide, for instance which effects comes first like toxic or sandstorm, etc? which pokemon is effected first? Or is this dependent on speed factors?

I have had wish work when my Pokemon was KO'd and the next round my new Pokemon received the wish and I have had it not work with the same circumstances.

So what your saying is your wishing Pokemon was KO'd in the same round it made the Wish? And sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't?

what do you mean wish? the move? and do peole like the move baton pass because i could breed that into one of my breeds if that is a good move

I don't think you can blankly state that baton pass is a move that you like or not as that will pretty much depend on how you're trying to use it; What pokemon you put it on, what status(es) you want to try to pass on, and what pokemon (if any, maybe :?) on your team would stand to benefit from being on the receiving end.
(And yes, they were talking about Wish, the move)

Wish will continue to work even if the pokemon that used it faints. If there is no pokemon on the side the team that used the wish on the turn that wish is supposed to receive its effects, wish becomes null, the new pokemon does not receive its effects.

Yeah, but I have had it not work even with a Pokemon being brought in after the Wish is used and that means it should work within the next round and it is like it faded away.
Also as a Gym Leader I love Baton Pass, because that is the only way besides U-Turn for us to switch unless you switch first.

Baton Pass is awesome and also annoying to deal with if you're on the opposing side of it. I love it and my Umbreon puts it to good use.

Baton pass is brilliant on the right pokemon. I (predictably) use it on my ninjask. It has a focus sash equipped, is very fast, swords dances, gets a speed boost, can protect for one more, and pass. Amazing as long as whatever you pass too survives the move used against it. Even after this, I can switch in my Ninjask with 1 HP later, use protect and baton pass a speed boost.
A good baton passer learns sharp stat raising moves, has either speed (e.x. ninjask) or durability (e.x. umbreon). It can really help set up a lot of pokemon to do major damage.

Setup Pokemon are something I have not seen many teams have in my Gym. Most people have their Pokemon set themself up. Example, like an Agility MEtagross, true it is nasty once it uses Agility, but what if it came into battle with Agility already given to it?

Well, for Ninjask, it's obvious, but Wish, that's pretty rediculous. I'm not asking why people would even use Baton Pass, I'm asking why would you baton pass wish when you can just simply change.

first cause if you are in a gym battle them the gym leader could change too and second cause if you change instead of baton pass there may be the posibilities that wish doesnt work sometimes does and sometimes doesnt..

Wish only stops working if there is no pokemon on the field on the turn it is supposed to come true, My togekiss has it, I've done it before.

Heres an example...
umbreon uses mean look
bliss uses t wave
umbreon uses wish
bliss uses seismic toss
umbreon baton passes to infernape
bliss seismic tosses infernape
wish kick in heals ape who is now full hp
bliss cant switch now cuz of the passed mean look
Ape ohkos bliss

The point is, even if a pokemon uses wish and baton pass, generally they have an ulterior motive, something else they want to pass, such as mean look, or a stat boost. I agree that baton passing just wish is stupid.

yes just wish dosent make sence but does it really matter? pasing and switching is the same thing if there is no stat/effect to pass.

One exception (my ninjask faced this). Baton pass is a regular move, and will not always go first, so if the opponent goes first, the pokemon that is trying to baton pass will get hit, and possibly die, whereas if the pokemon just switches out (or baton passes first) the pokemon coming in will get hit.
Also, you can switch when taunted, but cant baton pass.

That was my thinking. The whole battle, I understood before hand. I just saw An umbreon w/o mean look, but the other two.
