That is like the 4th new Pokemon game I have heard of that is coming out in 08. If they do a 3rd version to D/P it will follow the Diamond Pearl name theme. Two of the new games are suppose to be the next evolution, which is entirely possible. No rule saying they have to make a 3rd release to the D/P series.

There may not be a rule about it, but it wouldn't really make sense for them to not have a third game - they'd lose out on a chunk of money :wink:
My personal bets are on the third one in the D/P series being titled Beryl :P
The manga had Diamond, Pearl and Berlitz as I understand it - Berlitz isn't likely to pass as a game name - Beryl probably would.
(Yes, I know Berlitz and Beryl certainly aren't the same word, but for some reason its what associates in my mind ^^; )
The only thing I've read about 'Pokemon Platinum' had a 2009 date and was on pokebeach, which showed a scan it said was from Beckett Pokemon Collector magazine. I'm not big on cards so its not something I read myself. The site says that they've "printed news from random people on random forums in the past, and has sometimes proven to be unreliable when it comes to new information on future games" though.
This was the image they had (except I loaded it into photobucket to avoid direct linking).

Could that perhaps be the RPG Pokemon game they talked about for the Wii?

yeah it might be buzz cause that type of game takes a lot of time making and work..and spring 2009 i think is enough time but that project i think is from 2006..cause they generally take 2 or 3 years making a good game.

I was thinking that since it was being called Platinum that a name change like that in the series of games, could mean the RPG and somehow linking all Pokemon together again.

yeah you know pokemon battle revolution kinda dissapointed me but i must admit that the moves looks great did you see the fire it looks very nice or other nices moves(hyper beam) but i think the ones that always seen a little lame are the grass ones

I saw battle revolution as a stopgap game. You couldn't put out the Wii without an entry from most of the major Nintendo franchises (Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Metroid, and so on)
Diamond/Pearl was pretty new, and I'm guessing there just wasn't time to get real aggressive with a Wii Pokemon game. Battle Revolution was undeniably a Pokemon game, and let us not forget that it was the first Wii game to go online.
I'm guessing we are going to get a more RPG oriented Wii game eventually. Maybe this Platinum we are hearing about. PBR was mostly just there to show the colors as it were.

I thought scans were released revealing it would be called Pokémon Opal. I also think it's a suitable name, because it fits in with, at least, the Pearl theme.
Ach, I don't care anyway. I'm not going to buy it unless it's super refreshing and new, which it won't be; it's Pokémon.

I hadn't actually heard that, so I went looking for the scans (didn't find them) but apparantly Giratina is based on an Opal, so you're probably right.
Bye bye Beryl :sad:

Platinum does not sound right. The Game Cube games have not followed the typical naming scheme of the GBA/DS games at all.
Platinum sounds more like a DS game than a Wii game.

yeah HMTKSteve is right in ds games they always have the same kind of game so platinum is for ds..or maybe the plan to make a new region 8like a gba game)but for wii and that is why is call platinum

I hope it has all the gba & ds regions, thatd be soo cooL! Didnt they do that with g/s/c (kanto & jhoto)?
P.s: There is supposed to be a new PMD coming like same month

I will bet any amount of money that we have not seen the last Pokemon Game. But let's not get too worked up about anything we have seen.
There are lots of doctored scans floating around the internet.
I've seen scans of three different Gold/Silver DS remakes, An Opal w/Giratina on the cover, a Jade w/Arcetus on the cover, and now Platinum.
I wouldn't put too much faith in any of them. I think the odds are good we are going to get some kind of Diamond/Pearl combo game in the vein of Crystal or Emerald, and I think we have lots of evidence for a Gold/Silver remake.
But I'm not going to get too worked up about it. They will announce it, and we will buy it. Or not.

The Opal game with Giratina on the cover was a complete doctored photo. The case images had none of the Diamond/Pearl effects and was a black and white photo with certain colors added in.

I think that Opal with Giratina was one of the worst doctered images I've seen. ^_^;;
I don't know if you guys ever played roms, but I remember a while ago that someone tried to pass off a really weird rom game as a Pokemon Diamond ((this was long before Pkmn Diamond actually existed)). It had some pretty good images, even though the doctered game packaging had some really weird screenshots -- made up monsters sitting in the middle of Celadon City. ^_^;;
Btw, I'm totally psyched for this: Pokemon Farm Channel (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Bokuj%C5%8D_Channel)

One of the most common rumors I have heard about the Pokemon Farm Channel for the Wii is that it will, among other things, serve as additional Pokemon storage just like the Pokemon Box did for Ruby and Sapphire.
If that is true, then this is my most-wanted product since Diamond and Pearl came out!:D I don't know about the rest of you, but I am constantly running with my boxes 90% full and scrimping for space when I breed. A place to offload the little used but still desired pokemon in my collection would be a godsend.

I hear that and it is my major deciding factor for getting a Wii, like I need another reaon he-he.

i dont think they make that game but if they do is very easy you need two ds and via wireless and if opal is for wii it is the same thing..

I can't believe you answered that post. Not only is it 2 months old, it was a joke. I am a forum administrator and I am pretty sure I have seen the main site since I wrote a guide on it.
