Probably a very basic question but, when a pokemon holds experience share does the holding pokemon get as much of an EV boost as it would if it actually faced off against the opponent?

Yeah. Or so I read anyway.
If a pokemon gets EXP from beating a pokemon, they also get the same EV boost as they would have if they'd actually fought against the pokemon.

Yes, both the fighting Pokemon and the Pokemon holding the Exp. Share receive the same number of EV points, it's only the Exp. that gets split. Say you fight something that gives 2 Speed points and 500 exp (this is for those that may still be confused). Because one Pokemon is holding the Exp. Share, that one gets half the exp. and the one that fought gets the other half, so they would both receive 250 exp. However, the EV points do not get split: instead of one getting 1 point and the other getting the other point, they would both receive 2 points. That, of course, is not taking into account Pokerus or the Macho Brace. In case you are wondering, if the fighting Pokemon is wearing a Macho Brace, only that one's EV points are doubled. That one would receive 4 points, while the one holding the Exp. Share would only receive 2.
EV points = Effort Value points. Every Pokemon you fight earns you a certain number of points in a certain stat, which is what helps increase your stats more at level up. for every 4 EV points in one stat, that stat gains 1 extra point at level up. The maximum number of EV points a Pokemon can earn is 510, and the most that any one stat can have 255.

Thank you for that great explanation. That makes sense. I guess I need to migrate my charizard that is holding a macho brace. :!:
