Hello everyone, Im clueless on one last thing in terms of breeding/training...

I need to know more about EVs, if anyone has any info, any at all, then please post it here, the quicker the better, Im trying to make a new team.

This is me all over again, look at bugs website but anyway

Some pokemon give of ev in each stat. For every 4 evs on that stat it goes up 1 stat, you only see the increase when the pokemon levels up.

You may say, i killed 40 geodude and only got 3 extra stats in deffence, sometimes it isnt completely set to 4 evs but it normally that.

I think Steve is right and someone needs to write a complete EV and IV guide for the main site. I don't think I can do it. I wrote so much for the forums and yet nobody seems to get it. Maybe I am not explaining it right. You know actually and this is going to sound mean, I don't think anyone wants to sit and take the time to read the entire thing. If they post a new thread asking about them they will get a short and sweet answer. For EVs and IVs there are not short and sweet answer.

Simple answer EV:
Every Pokemon gives a set EV for being KO'd.
Each Pokemon in your Party can gain a total of 510 EVs.
You can only gain a total of 255 EVs in 1 Stat.
Every 4 EVs is 1 stat point.
More then 252 EVs in one stat is a waste of EVs.


I really don't get it though. There is as many threads about EVs and IVs as there are members of this forum. I know very well members don't want to read anything on the main site when they can just ask for an answer here. They don't want to read the FAQ, but complain when they get an Infraction.

The BugCatcher is going on vacation. I am honestly tired of being PM'd with questions that should be asked in the forum. How do I find this item or this TM, why ask me? How can I get this move on this Pokemon, why ask me? I am not a Pokemon Professor, I did not study under Oak, Elm, Birch, or Rowan. I don't know how many times I have asked or how to ask in a way that everyone understands. I spend anywhere from 1-4 hours day checking the forum. I went invisible the other day and I checked every new post and thread in 20 minutes. Why only 20 minutes after I said 1-4 hours, well since I was invisible I did not have a barrage of PMs asking question.

I am a Moderator, the only questions I should see in my PM is about forum issues. I should not be asked how to get past the Fortree Gym in Ruby. I should not be asked why my Pokemon won't learn a certain move.

For all breeding questions I have the ask the stable master in my farm sub-forum.

Wonder why I need a break from my Gym? I never get a minutes peace when I am logged in to this site.

I think I get the whole EV thing now!

I know the basics, the thing that was confusing me was the max amount.

so, (tell me if Im right)

255 per stat
252- using anything more is a waster
510 is the max for one pokemon

6 extra points-use four on one stat, the others are useless


One more question... you can only have 510 total for a pokemons life, its not like they gain 510 per level right?


And also, I still need techniques to write down EVs

For erm... 120
1.1234567890
2.1234567890
3.1234567890

and so on... Each number = one EV say you are on 3rd colum and number 3... you have 23 EV's in that stat!

so, the 99th IV would be 9th row, 9th column?

lol! not really he just has no speed IVs or evs! he has a relaxed nature and hes a little quick tempered!

the only reason I need a lot is because Im reforming my pokemon team. I just found out that my team sucked, so im using movesets now that I know that they exist...:D And Im almost done, i just need these, and return for my miltank breed...:D
