I would like the tournament to start on the 28th of December. That is one week to finish your team. I think having the tournament over the weekend would help with having all participants available.



╬ Rules Update ╬

The Challenger's team will be composed of 6 Pokémon, no less.
Battles will be Level 50 Single Battles.
Legendary Pokémon(Übers) are NOT permitted in battle.
Hacked Pokémon are NOT permitted. If the Pokémon's legitimacy is questionable, the Tournament holder may request a Trade Inspection to certify that the Pokémon are legitimate and not hacked.
No more than one of the same Pokémon will be permitted in the challenger's team.
No two Pokémon will be permitted to hold the same items, Berries are an exception.
Losing Connection, only once for the entire tournament. If you lose connection a second time you forfeit. We can't have a Gym Leader that cannot stay connected for battles.

To save any and all arguments I redid the original bracket. When one member was removed it gave his/her opponent a bye and I did not think that was fair to the other members. I wanted all members to have a chance to receive the bye. I put all the names on a slip of paper. Put the paper in a hat and shuffled them. My wife then picked one slip and I reshuffled. I reshuffled after every pick and my wife picked each slip.



Block B receives the bye the first round and Block A will receive it in round 2. Each Round I will reshuffle the names remaining in each block to ensure randomness of the battles.

Actual battles will not have to take place on the 28th. I am using the 28th as a scheduling day for the battles. When both battlers have agreed upon a time and day I will add it to the brackets. This will reinforce the Gym Leaders ability to schedule battles and make it on time to that battle. The battle for the first round must take place on the 28th or the 29th. So if you would like to contact your opponent anytime before the 28th to set up your battle, I will need a PM from both of you stating the day(28th or 29th) and time you guys have decided on. I need 2 PMs here, not just a PM saying so & so and I have decided this is our battle time. After the last battle has been fought in the first round the next round will start as soon as I post the updated blocks. I want the tournament started on the 28th, the first round to end as soon as possible on the 29th and the rest of the tournament completed by Sunday(the 30th) Night. It sounds like alot, but as a Gym Leader you could have anywhere from 1-10 or more battles in a day.

I would also like for everyone to keep score after their battles, how many Pokemon you had left, your opponent should always have 0 if you are the winning trainer. I want to get an idea of battle strength and ability to keep accurate records.

Same thing as with scheduling for a Gym battle. A PM would be nice, but if it is due to an emergency, the PM can come later. But if you have to pick your mother up from jail or the airport, PMing before you leave and before your battle would be nice. I am sure mom will understand why it took you 5 extra minutes.

Yeah I got the bracket layout from celph's tournament. It is hard to make a bracket in a post, but celph found away to make them look decent, so I used it. I just hope that everyone involved in this tournament realizes how important this tournament is. I know most of you do, I just hope that all will.

Of course its important. You can't just throw around the title of 'Gym Leader.' If someone doesn't realize how important this tourney is then they shouldn't be participating.

Yeah, nagib and I talked yesterday but no official time set up yet due to me heading down to my in laws in St. Louis. Once I get down there I'll know the time table for visiting friends/family that the wife has set up, thus the times for battling. :)

The self ko rule is not listed, but I kinda figured that most trainers know that you can't self ko and win if your last Pokemon also faints. The Double Team is just lame to begin with. I have never seen that rule used anywhere here or anyone use this tactic. I just figured it was another one of those unwritten rules where all trainers realize how unsportsmanlike it was and never used it.

I wonder, I had to start a new battle tier, so I guess we will have to build a new rules system for PokeFarm in the future.

I just thought of something. Seeing how the participants are candidates to be a Gym Leader, they should battle as such. How does a tournament lock-down sound? No switches, whatsoever (excluding Baton Pass and U-turn).

No Self-KO Clause
Moves that KO the user or rely on the user being KO'd (Destiny Bond, Explosion, Memento, etc.) are not allowed to be used if the would-be user is the last Pokémon remaining.
Evasion Clause
Don't use Double Team and Minimize. The game becomes dreadfully dull when every game is DT x6 followed by Baton Pass to a sweeper. DTing walls will never die either.
No Switching

Moves such as Baton Pass and U-Turn are O.K. O.K. is everyone now O.K. with the rules?

I found this online that may answer juaco's post.

Some may say "carry haze", but the fact is, Hazers, Vaporeon aside, are very easy to kill, and you won't have pure hazers, which is what Double Team demands you to have. No need to say this would take all the fun and skill out of the game.

It looks currently that ryanchevi_123 and staraptormanic313 may be no shows. ryanchevi_123 was online yesterday, but failed to reply to his opponents PM on scheduling their battle.

I will not tolerate failure to reply or follow the rules. A Gym Leader must be able to follow the rules and make scheduled battles. I swear if you all knew what was at stake in this tournament you would show the utmost dedication. There is more to this tournament then just a Boulder Gym Leader position. It is a chance to show your battle strength against some of the best competitors our forum has. It is a chance to your team building skills. It is your chance to show your breeding skills. Not going to say this is a chance of a lifetime, because I know it is just a game, but as far as this site goes Gym Leader title puts you in a rank all your own.

I was informing all of those on the list still. juaco sent me a PM asking why he was on the list. He showed intent to be there by PMing me with a time to get together with ad9666. Well, I also asked for a PM saying I am still interested. Nothing more then to show me you can follow the rules of this tournament. I know rules change, that is part of the following rules. They added a rule here in Pennsylvania about, if you had to turn your windshield wipers on for anything your headlights must also be on. This insures that during rainstorms people turn their lights on so others can see them better. The law was passed in October like a year or 2 ago and was stated fines would not be given out until the New Year so everyone had time to see the new law and learn it. So what does this have to do with me making up rules as we go along?

After posting a rule and members having 1-3 days in certain cases to see the rule, then there should be no what I did not know.

Rules and content can change based on members thinking of new things or not liking other things. I am trying to make this a fair tournament and I want the best person to be the Gym Leader. If you cannot change on the fly or even PM your opponent to get a battle time set up, how can you run a Gym. If I ask for a PM from you to say yes I still want in this, how can you expect to have your Gym Leader Position if the Pokemon League Judge issues a Gym Leader Sound Off and you don't reply. What is a Pokemon Gym Sound Off? If enough members complain to someone say a Mod or a Gym Leader, hey Nak and I are both, and they complain about a Gym Leader, we will take our information and report it to HMTKSteve and he will do a sound off. If Gym Leaders don't reply back, they lose their position.

I know this all sounds like alot of BugCatcher and his pesky rules, but being a Gym Leader is something I hold higher then my farming or my Moderator/Administrator positions. You will find that being a Gym Leader, you have very little downtime when you are on the site. If you stay inactive for to long, people will complain and you will not be a Gym Leader for long.
