I have noticed that alot more members are using the invisible mode to hide when they are logged into the forum. I would also like to point out how hard it is to be invisible when you post while invisible. I can understand why Nak and I do the invisible mode. Most of the time as soon as I login to PokeFarm I am flooded with PMs. I need time to check the new posts and threads, so we go invisible to do this. Heck I still get tons of PMs while invisible. I am just curious as to why others are using invisible mode. I know one person has told me that they get to many PMs and hide to stop them, but in knowing this member I find it hard to believe they are hounded that much. I know which members get hammer constantly with PMs asking for help and this one person is the one doing alot of the asking.

Just curious as to why others do it. I know I have been busted before for posting while invisible, but do others not understand that the part of being invisible is to avoid detection? I only posted while invisible because as a Mod I sometimes need to post warnings and switching in and out of invisible mode is not very cloak and dagger he-he.

Buzz is right as to why I'm invisible. I receive so many PMs that I can't get to read through new posts on a few occasions. It's hard to type and Mod on a PSP! XP

I try to do it when I go AFK. Sometimes I accidentally leave the forum up on my browser window and wander away to do something. I know it's annoying for people to see the greenlight and think that I'm just ignoring them or something. ^_^;;

I can understand why Nak and I do the invisible mode.Well, not understanding why you do it would've been weird :-D

I used to do it on another forum for no particular reason but stopped when people told it was getting on their nerves.
However, I don't pay any attention to status when PMing someone. However, they're useful if you're planning a trade.

I can't say I've actually ever bothered setting myself invisible on this forum, but I have on others before.
If you happen to make one or two posts while being invisible, most people won't actually think 'hey, that persons actually here', they'll just think they happened to miss the brief period you were online for.... also, a lot of the time, most people honestly won't care whether you were online, visibly or otherwise :?
(Or well... most people honestly wouldn't care whether I was online or not :P)

I have been known to set myself invisible when I'd find it a hassle to answer too - namely when I'm trying to browse using a psp (I really don't know how Nak does it, I find myself messing with the screen width settings and getting distracted from what I'm actually trying to read or do), or using someone elses computer and don't have too long to spend. If I'm not 'visibly' online in the first place, they can't expect me to answer... and if they happen to realise I posted a post or so in that time, well, I still have an excuse for not having answered as I never actually said I was around, and maybe I just wasn't around for long enough to give them a full response.

On another forum I had a habit of setting myself to invisible mode while I wrote RP posts or while I reviewed the previous posts I needed to answer. It stopped people messaging me and interupting my writing - or rather, it stopped them needing or expecting any immediate answers :P
Same for the posts I was writing and/or answering. Being invisible meant that I was free to spend as long reviewing and writing those posts as I wished without people thinking I was taking too long over it, or without them thinking that I was ignoring them when infact I was writing long wordy responses.

My invisibility wasn't really to hide the fact I was online - it wasn't to 'avoid detection' ... it was to hide how long I was online for before I posted :twisted:
