Hello everyone, it's me, Rron! As you may recall, Bugcatcher6, or Buzz, made a poll (http://forum.pokefarm.com/showthread.php?t=3012) about whether you guys wanted someone to teach you, or guide you on making a team. I was one of the people who volunteered to help teach people. Now, my services are open to anyone who asks. My services include, but are not limited to advice on: Starting a team from scratch, EV spreads, movesets, team format, battle strategy, and themes.
NOTE: I will not breed a pokemon for you, nor will I IV breed, or EV train it. It's your team, not mine. If I have a pokemon that can pass moves for you, then fine, I may lend it to you or something, and even that's kinda pushing it, but please, I have a life as well, please do not ask me to make your pokemon.
Also, the thread title is a bit misleading. I am not teaching you how to breed, that's what Buzz's guide (http://forum.pokefarm.com/showthread.php?t=1615) is for... This is to help you mix the two concepts, and allow you to understand what to breed on, if you need to. (Some of my pokemon don't know a single breeded move). This is also to help you create a team that flows, that works, and is balanced, but only to the point that it doesn't compromise your vision.
Current trainies: Soronrocket - Full team training.
Taurosdude- Team Building
Slizer - Strategy
Current Trainers: Me, Rron - Has time to work on any and all steps.
D.B.B. - Is willing, but a little busy, will work on any and all steps.
Guide coming....

A member will have to spend their tms more often than not, but they may be able to pass it off to a lot of pokemon.

Bare-bones Guide to making a team!!!!!
STEP 1: -Inception
Think about your favorite pokemon and write them down somewhere. Do not fall into the pit of picking only 6 pokemon! You are allowed to switch out pokemon on your team!!!
STEP 2: -Initial Research
Find the base stats of the pokemon you picked, and write them under the name of the pokemon, respectively.
STEP 3: Grasping the concepts
Look at what your pokemon seem to be oriented towards. Are you full of tanks? Are you like a ninja in the night? Could you reenact the burning of the reichstag with all your fire-types? Could you sink atlantis. The point is, try to get a feeling of what the pokemon are going to be doing. This entails looking at stats, types, but hold off on the moves for now. I recommend you do this one pokemon at a time. Example: You noticed that half of the list consists of steel pokemon, and they all have good defense, so you might be oriented with dealing with physical hits, but the special side is lacking. This leads us to step four...
STEP 4: -Countering your counters
Write down what your pokemon are bad at dealing with. It is not required that you have one pokemon for every type. So don't worry. Think of it in terms of stats, not moves. For example, you can't handle special attacks, so you need some more special defense on your team. You can choose to tough it out, or you can think of pokemon that you like that have better special defense. This is where it can get difficult.
STEP 5: Secondary Research
You may be thinking, why research again? I already looked up the stats of my pokemon, and their weaknesses. This time, things are different. This step entails you going to websites on your free time, watching battles on youtube, looking through the pokedex on websites. I personally use Serebii to look for pokemon. I feel that it's the cleanest way of looking for pokemon. On it, you can choose to look by type, or by highest base stats. This time around, write a list of the new pokemon you've discovered, and write in their base stats. Add this to your initial list.
STEP 6: Movesets, EV spreads, and Natures.
Itching to play already? I'm sorry, one of the most important parts of team building must come first. The movesets, and EV spreads. What are EVs? EVs are effort values, and you pokemon can receive a certain amount of evs in a stat depending on who it fights. There is no way for you to guess what evs a pokemon gives. The best way is by looking online.
Here is a short list of the best ev training spots:
HP Evs: There is a farmer lady outside Solaceon, to the south, stationed next to the mudslide. She carries 5 bidoof. One bidoof gives 1 hp evs.
Attack Evs: Left of pastoria in the great marsh, you can fight wild Kricetune and Bibarel. They give two attack evs each.
Defense evs: In the oreburgh mine, you can fight geodude and onix for one defense ev each.
Speed evs; Left of eterna city is a bridge on the water, on your way to eterna forest, the bridge makes a turn towards the top of the screen, then continues left. There is a fisher at the top of this turn. He carries 6 magikarp. One magikarp gives 1 speed ev.
Sp. defense evs: To the east of celestic town, there is an area with fog, continue the trail until you get to a part where a bridge that will only carry you while on your bridge appears on your left. Follow it, and you will fight a ninja who references Koga. He carries a dustox which gives 3 sp. def evs. There are ways to get more evs out of a single pokemon, but there are guides for that, and this is not one of them. To get a hold of what an ev does, think about this, at level 100, for every four evs it has in a stat, that stat will go up by one. Every pokemon can have a total of 510 evs, and each stat can only hold 255 evs, but 252 is the last multiple of four, so people tend to just give a pokemon 252 in a stat. This means that at level 100, their pokemon will have an extra 63 points in that stat. If the pokemon has a beneficial nature for that stat, then you multiply this 63 by 1.1 since a beneficial nature allows your gain to be boosted to 110% of it's natural max. Now, natures, except for a few, increase the gain of a stat to 110%, and lower the total gain of another stat to 90%, these are something you can research, and I am not going into them, but I recommend you pick a stat it can afford to be worse at. If you want to get a good grasp of what ev spreads a pokemon can benefit from, visit www.smogon.com and check their strategy pokedex. I myself have some issues with some of their movesets, so do not focus on the moves so much. Use their movesets as a starting place. Alright, you've decided on natures and ev spreads. On to the moves, the part that decides everything. You want to do this at the same time as or before the ev spreads. Look at the move pools of all your pokemon, and see what moves you want it to learn, look at earlier evolutions, what works with it's role, what it learns through breeding, and decide what types you need to cover, if the pokemon is going to be attacking. Selecting moves will be hard at first, but after doing it for a while, you'll realize what moves suit the pokemon depending on it's role. This is where the idea of amnesia on my turtwig originated. I was like, I might as well make it a viable option for dealing with special attackers, as well as physical attackers. I also didn't like recoil on a tank of sorts, so i switched wood hammer for seed bomb. I then went ahead and bred it the right moves. (Stinkin' bulbasaur...) Your pokemon should now be ready to come to digital life!
STEP 7: This is the long part, but it involves you actually playing.
This is where you go ahead an make your pokemon. It's pretty self-explanatory.
STEP 8: Trial and Error
Your team will never be done. As most pokemon do, your team will evolve. You will not want to stick to the same pokemon forever (even though I do, more often than not). This step is for testing it out, and coming up with new ideas, collecting stories, and forging a form of pride for the effort you put into your pokemon.
I hope this guide helps, and if you feel somewhat uneasy about how your results have been in the past. Just ask me, and I will help you with it! :)

hello my question is what if you have a Pokemon with the nature of Lonely... would i ev train and max out the stat of defense and don't focus on attack because of its boost it gets from its nature???

PM me the pokemon, and I'll tell you. You aren't going to want a lonely nature if you want to work on it's defence.

Great program Rroni. I want to point one thing that is in my breeder guide that can be used with every build. The natures that everyon seems to have troubel with. Here is a clip from my guide that talks about antures. I know alot of people don't read the guide because it is huge.
Step 2: Natures.
What Nature should your Pokemon have, that all depends on what Pokemon you are building? There is however Natures I feel should be left out of any build. The Neutral Natures (Bashful, Docile, Hardy, Quirky, and Serious) are nice as they offer no hindrance in stats, but they also don’t benefit a stat. I also feel you can cut out any Nature that hinders Defense (Gentle, Hasty, Lonely, and Mild) or Special Defense (Lax, Naïve, Naughty, and Rash). I just don’t like taking away any defense from a Pokemon. That would still leave Natures to boost Attack (Adamant and Brave), Special Attack (Modest and Quiet), and Speed (Jolly and Timid). Wow does that mean that only 6 Natures matter? No it means I feel these Natures are what you want to use for the strongest possible Pokemon. Neutral Natures never hurt, but maybe you won’t mind low Defense or Special Defense on a Pokemon that uses Selfdestruct or Explosion. That is why you must also think about your Pokemon’s Nature while building. I tend to breed more Pokemon with Speed increasing Natures, but that will not work for all Pokemon no matter how hard you breed.

Thanks Buzz, I put a link in the beginning for the guide. I also felt that this was the bare bones, and that I would be taking on students, so I would show them how to do it when I worked on it with them, but yeah, you're right. I tend to just take away the attack type it doesn't need.
