Thank you for tuning-in to Viscous Conservatory! Here at the Viscous Conservatory, we pride ourselves on studying and authenticating the history and evolution of species under the genum Monstrum-pokete, otherwise known as Pokemon. We hope that you will join us in our journey in discovering the secrets and truths behind many legends of Pokemon.

Today we follow the elusive Mp. bhelwal, commonly known as the Wailmer. Although categorized as a marine pokemon, Wailmer are theorized to have evolved from land pokemon millions of years ago due to their ability to survive on land for brief periods of time. They breathe oxygen like humans; however, their nostrils are located on the very tops of their heads and use strong muscles to tightly close it when underwater. Contrary to popular belief, only one of these holes leads to the Wailmer's lungs. A second hole that otherwise appears to be a "breathing" nostril actually leads to a water organ that the pokemon uses to take-in water from its environment. This water is sometimes used to attack prey & predators, but is most commonly used as a means of communication with a potential mate by releasing strong bursts of water to create oscillations of high and low pressures. The more control over these oscillations a Wailmer can exhibit under water, the more likely it is to win over a mate.

Wailmer are born with one of two abilities. The first is "Oblivious," this ability allows the Wailmer to disregard any distractions prey might use in order to escape being eaten. The second is "Water Veil," a genetic condition where the Wailmer's skin is covered in a thick mucus secretion that quickly heals any burns it might receive.

Wild Wailmer are incredibly social creatures and will often approach humans and other pokemon, despite any other previous experience of harm. Unfortunately due to this behavior, Wailmer have been driven close to extinction from over-hunting. Thanks to new laws preventing fishermen from hunting these pokemon, their population has begun to bounce back.

Recently, we've discovered a small pod of newborn Wailmer in the salty waters of Route 223. This is a high traffic route used by Trainers traveling to the Pokemon League. We believe that these Wailmer may have been separated from their parent due to all the battles that occur in this area and so we offer them to our viewers for a limited time. Please give them a good home.

Moveset:
Water Spout - Using its water organ located at the dorsal side of its body, it releases a strong stream of water. The pressure and strength is directly proportional to the Wailmer's health. Bounce - When approaching land creatures, it inflates its body with water and uses the elasticity of its blubber to bounce and move about. A single bounce can send a Wailmer tens of feet into the air. Earthquake - Due to its massive weight, movements on land cause the ground to shudder. Surf - Incredibly social, Wailmer willingly allows humans & other pokemon to ride on its back as it zooms through the surface of the water.

Ability:
Oblivious - Disregards distractions prey might present to win over affection. Water Veil - Secrets a mucosal membrane around itself to prevent burns.

Hey I just wanted to post and say what a great build. When I did Wailmer back when I first started I wanted to give him Water Spout, but did not because it loses Power as your HP falls. It is however nasty when your HP is full and it is perfect for leading against a Pokemon that will not attack right away. Stops setup Pokemon cold.

^__^ Thanks Buzz, it really means a lot hearing that from you. When I decided to do a segment on Wailmer I was a little worried b/c when I searched on the forum I saw that you had already done a build quite some time ago. So seeing you compliment my Wailmer really makes me feel good.

Well truthfully I know people try not to breed something that has already been bred before. I think that is eventually going to be hard to do. Unless new Pokemon are made. I think as long as you take a Pokemon that has been done before and change the move-set up or even make it the perfect Nature and nice IVs, there is no problem in remaking one. I did Spiritombs and I saw someone else just did one. My next event is a Spiritomb remake of my first Spiritombs. I have a new move-set planned and will try to have high IVs and a set Nature for them all.

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

But your Wailmer is nice. Good range in attacks and with the double Water attacks, that leaves for big Water Spout hits early and Surf attacks late in battle.

Looks nice, Vis. =D I have a Wailord myself. But rather, its moveset is Water Spout, Earthquake, Avalanche, and Amnesia. I was also thinking of making another one with Rest and Sleep Talk instead. It does very well, but not against OU's sadly. =(

@Buzz: Yeah, now that I've gotten the hang of breeding I really want to avoid doing the same pokemon as another person. x_x You'd think with ~400 pkmn in the world now it wouldn't be that tough.

@Nak: No worries Nak, as per our conversation, I'm sure one day we'll breed the cutest and the strongest pkmn the world has to offer!

Mixed attackers never do great. Mine was going to have Dive, Amnesia, EQ, and Body slam.

Isn't water spout special? I know it depends on your hp, but without giving it some special attack it's not going to do as much, right?

Try telling that to Torch and Winterborn. :D lol j/k I've had some luck with mixed attackers, but.... other times it just fails.

Nak: If you want a pychical attack.

why not make it learn waterfall?

i mean someone in the tournament could swicth their pokemon while you are in dive.

and basically it have the same base attack and waterfall sometimes flinched your oponent.

viscocity: i think today i can pick up the wailmer.

With dive and leftovers, you can make use of the fact that wailord gets about 600 hp.
