View Full Version : Riddle Me This
Shiny Lucario
01-31-2008, 06:24 PM
Heres a new shiny event thread I'm making, mostly so I can clear out the boxes I have full of shinies. As the title suggests, there are going to be riddles, which if you answer correctly, you get a free shiny. I'm not using a point system, because as I said, I need to clean out my boxes. And I'll still update my other thread. Now, time for the rules:
1. You may only guess the answer twice.
2. All answers will be posted on this thread and not PM'd.
3. I will be posting riddles when I feel like it. So I'll probably post at least one a day.
4. If you win a shiny, please don't try on the next one unless you really want the shiny. If you win that one as well, I ask that you don't participate for the next two.
And finally:
5. Please don't try to search the answer on Google or something like that as its cheating.
Anyways, how about I post up the first riddle? Here you go:
Shadow opened the door to Dr. Adam Apple's office and surveyed the scene. Dr. Apple's head lay on his desk surrounded by a pool of blood. On the floor to his right lay a small hand gun. There were powder burns on his right temple indicating that he was shot at close range. On his desk was a suicide note, and his right hand held the pen that had written it. Shadow recorded the time as 3:30pm., and ascertained that death had occurred within the past hour. As Shadow was gathering clues, Dr. Apple's wife burst into the office and screamed, "Good lord, my husband's been shot!" She ran toward him, saw the note and cried, "Why would he want to kill himself?"
"This was no suicide," said Shadow, "this was clearly a case of murder."
How does he know?

This one is fairly easy, and it didn't take me long to figure it out.
Have fun :-D.

His right hand held the pen. He was shot in the right temple. He would have needed to use his right hand to hold the gun in order to shoot himself in the right temple.

The pen in his right hand.....
Well, Cherkat gets me again......Congrats Cherkat :)
Taterbud
01-31-2008, 06:31 PM
Well, mainly, the man would not have been able to hold onto the pen if he committed suicide because of the nerve reaction would cause him to throw the pen when and if he did shoot himself, but since the pen was still in his hand it would be assumed that it was placed there after the murder.
joinred1127
01-31-2008, 06:31 PM
He did not kill himself because he was able to shoot the gun with his right hand if he also had a pen in his right hand.
EDIT: Wow people are fast
mrsimms101
01-31-2008, 06:32 PM
He shot himself on the right hand side of his head, and the gun was laying on his right hand side... but he was holding a pen in his right hand, so presumably he couldnt have held the gun in his right hand to shoot himself on the right hand temple.... maybe????
EDIT: holy cow everyone posted at the same time!!
Shiny Lucario

His right hand held the pen. He was shot in the right temple. He would have needed to use his right hand to hold the gun in order to shoot himself in the right temple.

Thats fine with me, etompkins, PM me when you can trade, and heres another:
FOUR is HALF of FIVE.
Is this statement True or False?
Shiny prize - Lv 25 Jolly Trapinch
Have fun :-D.
Oh man, that one took some heavy thinking! Half is the middle, and the middle letters of the word "FIVE" are IV, which is the Roman numeral for 4! I hope I'm right, that's the best solution I could come up with and I really love shiny Trapinch and its evolutions :-P
Oh wait, that would mean the statement is true. And I figured out something else, half of the letters that make up the word "FIVE" are the letters I and V which make up the numeral 4. So that's more half-ish than how I said before, "the middle."'
And sorry for the double post, I meant to click edit but in my rushed panic I hit the wrong button and didn't notice >_<

A king decided to let a prisoner try to escape the prison with his life. The king placed 2 marbles in a jar that was glued to a table. One of the marbles was supposed to be black, and one was supposed to be blue.
If the prisoner could pick the blue marble, he would escape the prison with his life. If he picked the black marble, he would be executed. However, the king was very mean, and he wickedly placed 2 black marbles in the jars and no blue marbles. The prisoner witnessed the king only putting 2 black marbles in the jars.
If the jar was not see-through and the jar was glued to the table and that the prisoner was mute so he could not say anything, how did he escape with his life?

Heh, I actually knew that one from a children's mystery book I read when I was wee. I think it might have been Nancy Drew. Someone that got kidnapped or something circled each of those months, and the protagonist (I think it was Nancy, not sure) realized it must mean the antagonist Jason had something to do with it, and of course the mystery was solved, hooray! :-P
And ShinyLucario, Cherkat can have the shiny Slakoth if that's okay with you. I'm starting to feel bad about getting so many on this thread. I think maybe I'll just only try for pokes I really want or riddles that really challenge me from now on.

Yeah, your right. And here is the next riddle:
A large truck is crossing a bridge 1 mile long. The bridge can only hold 14000 lbs, which is the exact weight of the truck. The truck makes it half way across the bridge and stops. A bird lands on the truck. Does the bridge collapse? And why?
Shiny prize - Lv 7 Quirky Gligar

no the bridge has already collapsed because of the weight of the driver in it, or the load it is holding already
Deltoid
02-06-2008, 03:24 PM
No, the fuel the truck has used up while driving has taken weight off
Cherkat
02-06-2008, 03:25 PM
Well I would say that it does not collapse taking into account the weight of gas used to travel 1/2 way across versus the weight of the bird, unless it was a California Condor in which case it would collapse:D

Nope, thats not the answer :-D.

I'm gonna guess sixty five cents, because if you have a whole bill and a half of a bill, only the whole one is worth anything, and you did say half and not fifty cents, so yeah, I'm guessing sixty five cents.
