Beacon Gym Presents: The B Button Tournament

O.K. Basically this tournament will consist of Pokémon with multiple evolutions, but will not be fully evolved.

Sign ups will be held until Monday, February 18th 2008.

The tournament will take place Saturday, February 23rd 2008 & Sunday, February 24th 2008.

Rules:
The battles will be a Level 50, 6 Vs. 6.
All Pokémon must be in the first stage of their Evolution.
After you have a team made, you will need to PM it to me to be able to battle.

Species Clause
It is NOT permitted to have two or more of the exact same Pokémon in a team.
Sleep Clause
It is NOT permitted that the status Sleep (SLP) be applied to more than one of the opponent's Pokémon at a time. The opponent's currently sleeping Pokémon must first awaken or get knocked out before Sleep may be cast on the opponent's Pokémon once again.
Applying the status Sleep while using random-selection moves (such as Assist, Metronome, Sleep Talk, etc.) does NOT violate this clause.
The move Yawn (unless used with moves such as Assist, Metronome, Sleep Talk, etc.) violates this clause.
Self-inflicted Sleep (such as Rest) does NOT count in this clause, as it is voluntarily inflicted by the user and not by the opponent.
If ability-inflicted Sleep (such as Effect Spore, etc.) is already in effect, applying Sleep to another Pokémon violates this clause
Duplicate Item Clause
No two Pokémon in the team may carry the same item.
Self-K.O. Clause
When both parties are down the last Pokémon, Self-K.O. moves (such as Explosion, Destiny Bond, Perish Song, Memento, etc.) will cause an automatic loss for its user.
Abilities such as Aftermath do not count since they are abilities and not moves.
Evasion Clause
Moves that directly increase evasion (such as Double Team and Minimize) are NOT permitted in battle.
Taking advantage of abilities such as Sand Veil and Snow Cloak are permitted. They are abilities, and do not directly affect evasion status.

Why would alot of people use Eevee? It's base stats are not great and it's move-pool is not that great until it evolves.

it could easily batton pass, it can wish and it can use yawn to phase.a good set you could use is: yawn wish batton pass/iron tail and substitute/shadow ball/dig

Um yes you can only use the listed Pokemon, hence the section,


The following Pokémon may be used for this tournament
@s tailor, I have not really went into the move-sets of every Pokemon on the list, but there are other Pokemon that can use Yawn, Baton, and even Wish. Togepi can as well. It is just like any other battle, some will be better then others, some will be used for one thing and then perish. It is choosing the right 6 out of the available 65.

true i suppose. i think its a better batton passer(togipi) and it can nasty plot. another few good pokes to use off the top of my head would be bulbasaur(anoyer) spuirtle(bulky water type) and porygon as a sweeper.

If your pokemon go over level 50, will they be reset back to 50 when doing a 50 battle, or will they just be "not possible to enter"? Feel nooby, never done lvl 50 match before :S

The game will automatically make them level 50. No matter if they are Level 100 or Level 1. The Pokemon just have to be the first stage of the family. Only the Pokemon listed can be entered.

Also if the number of participants is not higher by the deadline, this tournament will be canceled. I want 8-12 for a bracket tournament. Atleast 6 for a Round Table Battle.

I would like to, but I don't have the time right now to breed and train 6 new Pokemon. I want to finish my Gym Team test Pokemon. I want to finish this farm event. Plus I have tons of house work to do. I am remodeling my son's room and then the nursery room. I have to complete gut both rooms to do what I want. So back to bare studs and fresh everything.

Plus I don't like battling in Tournaments I am holding. I thought there would be another Breeder's Cup this month.

I wonder if I changed one of the Prizes and offered a TRU MANAPHY or a MYSTRY MEW how many more people would show up.

Now if I had a tournament with either one of those as prizes, I would have to enter just to have a chance to hold on to them he-he.

Yeah, I signed up for fun as well. A lot of B Button Pokemon are so cute, and this might be my only chance to use them in competetive play.

I don't believe in having a tournament and not having atleast a Berry for a prize he-he. I figure if you take the time to breed and train Pokémon that people never use, then I can reward you. Next months tournament should be a good one he-he.

What is next months? The NU one? But I agree, it's nice having some symbolic prize, maybe just a mail with some cool message on :-) But I think after this tournament I will try evolving some of the ones I use in this, because they can probably work in higher evo's too :-)

I am thinking of another NU one, but it could be something a bit more selective.

The prize I am thinking would be a TRU Manaphy, or a MYSTRY MEW, or a DARKRAI. I have 2 DARKRAI, one was a gift that I will keep, the other was threw trading that I can get rid of.
