We have been pretty lax around on threads going off topic, that ends. There will be an infraction added for going off topic in threads. No we know there are certain things to add that are not directly on topic, but not off topic. So use your best judgment before posting.
Also when someone post some good information and you decide to post, I agree with what they said, that has nothing to do with adding any real information to the thread.
Also we will be adding another new rule for those of you with infractions. You are as of right now, banned from any Gym battle until your Infraction points are expired. So if you have say 30 points that don't expire until 2 months, you cannot battle in the Gyms for 2 months. If you have 5 points and it takes 10 days to expire, you cannot challenge a Gym until those 5 points are gone.
Applying to a Gym with infraction points will result in an infraction that follows the no show for a Gym Battle infraction, 15 points for 30 days.
I know these rules look mean, but this site will not become Serebii.

They look perfectly normal to me, not mean in any way. This forum would never come close to a Serebii type forum, because sites like Serebii and Smogon lack a certain supervision in my opinion. It's really great to have such here.
I hate it when an informative comment becomes ignored, because of some random discussion that is going on that is totally besides the point of the whole thread. It happens a lot, so I think a good bunch of infractions could be coming our way, but I think it will certainly result in less trash/useless discussions, which is good. Right =)?

I know the off topic stuff happens. Even with Administrators and Moderators. So we will also follow suit with this infraction. Any Administrator or Moderator going off topic will receive an infraction as well.
Going off topic will have to be closely looked at by the Admin/Mods. I would suggest our first course of action should be for the Admin/Mod to report the off topic post. That will let the other Admins/Mods look at the post and we can decide if it was indeed off topic or just a different view for the topic. Next would be follow by a warning and any future ramblings would follow, reported post then infraction.
Members will also have to keep an eye out and make sure an off topic post does not start them on that off topic path.
@slizer107, this is not really the place to announce you have 2.1 months until you can challenge a Gym, but since you put it up here, your Gym Ban will last until 04/04/2008. So you can challenge a Gym again on 04/05/2008, unless you get another infraction before then.
So the other day I was watching Lost in Translation and err.. yeah, back to topic :p
I don't like it either when things go too off-topic, and giving a bit more weight to infractions is not a bad thing but the last rule is a bit harsh imho. 15 points for 30 days is a lot for a forum (especially since it removes a good deal of this forum's attractiveness for many members).
I don't know how much you browsed forums, but infractions for going off-topic never went that far and it usually didn't make it more common that if it had been 30 days (except for the lamers that get banned anyway).
No offense, but I find the infraction policy to be quite agressive. Since you're mainly aimed at children (I doubt the mean age is over 16, let alone 18), you should adapt your behavior in consequence : 1 week is already a lot when you hardly have any work to do. Just imagine what your kid would think if you said "no TV for one week". Wouldn't he find it amazingly long ?
In short, there should be rules and infractions, but the latter shouldn't be as bad :)

The current infraction for no showing for a Gym Battle is 15 points and 30 days, which you cannot challenge a Gym until the points expire. So giving a 15 point 30 day infraction for applying to a Gym when you know you are already banned from doing so, is not to harsh.

It has been decided that members with 10 or more infraction points will not be allowed to challenge any Gym until their points expire. Even if you have 10 points you may not battle. Trying if you request a battle from this post time on and you are on the Gym Leaders list of those with infractions, you will receive addition infraction points and a longer ban from the Gyms. The infraction given for requesting a battle with to many infraction points will be the same as no showing for a Gym battle. That is 15 points that last for 30 days.
I only post this again, because I wanted the rule to state you need 0 infraction points. The other Administrators and Moderators are much kinder and I have accepted their counter offer.
