the wiimote, the wiimote and nunchuck, the classic controller, or the gamecube controller?
i use the gamecube controller because i'm so used to it and the layout is very nice.

Gamecube. I tried the wii remote/nunchuck but that didn't work very well for me. I also tried the classic controller but my hands are a bit too big for it so its hard to scrunch them down to hit the right buttons all the times. Stupid ogre hands.

Game cube, it's because I'm used to it. Wiimote and nunchuck works fine too. Sideways wiimote is really hard, specially since all the buttons are smash together. I haven't tried the classic controller yet.

I haven't tried any other way besides the gc controller.

I use Wiimote and Nunchuck, but I have the 'shake for Smash' function enabled. It seemed to help me, since I'm new to SSB and am not good with GameCube controllers (plus, I don't have a Classic Controller).

I use the wiimote. It just feels comfortable to me. The old GC controller was never an ideal controller for fighters. The only thing they did right was make the jump buttons the x and y buttons. Other than that, i'm just content with the wiimote (so is my wallet). :D

Game Cube remote, I haven't really tried with the others, though the nunchuck seems a bit uncomfortable.

I use the wii-mote and numchuck. I might buy a classic remote but I have no intention of playing with the gamecube controller. Its a serious handicap, and Im good enough to beat people without it!

Oh, by all means, if you've never played Melee much, go right ahead and use the nunchuck. But for someone like me, whos logged in hundreds of hours on Melee, it's hard for me to use anything but the Gamecube. Can't teach an old dog new tricks, as they say...

By far the GC is the easiest to use, but the Wii remote and Nunchuck is very fun (especially if you have shake for smash enabled)!

I started out with the remote, but the jump was too hard for my sister, so I decided to switch us to the Game cube controller. It's much easier.

I've tried the Wiimote and Nunchuk and it didn't work out too well for. I did okay I guess, but I was dying WAY too easily. So I'm using the one for GCN now, but I'd like to try the Wiimote and Nunchuk again on another day.

I retract my previous statement. The GC controller is not a hanicap! I tried using it and I sucked! I never had melee so its not hard for me to use the wii-mote and nunchuck, but my friends tried using it and they killed themselves more than I did.

It all depends what you got used too. I had melee and was used to using the GC controller. So I didn't have a problem moving from ssbm to ssbb with it.

I think they need to come out with a wii-cade stick. Just like in the arcades. I know the wii barely sports hardly any fighters, but it'd be real kool to play with one so i can get my arcade practice in without ever stepping foot in an actual arcade. Where i'm from, we don't have many of those around. So if we can get anything close to an arcade, then heck we'll jump on it every chance we get. Heck, all of our video games on console are played arcade style and arcade rules.

I've said it on a bunch of other forums, so I'll say it here.

If you're a Melee veteran, go GCN. It's hard to re-learn a game that you're proficient with. Brawl is more or less Melee 1.1, so it's hard to adjust to something that you're used to.

Now, to folks who are just starting on Brawl, I've heard that the Nunchuck isn't that bad, and that the Classic controller is easy to learn on, as well.

By all means, if you want to learn to use the other methods well, go right ahead. But for many veterans, it's simply easy to not bother with it and go GCN.

And Gamegeezer, a Arcade pad would rule. It'd be like one of the old Super Advantage pads on the SNES, or one of the Street Fighter Edition Controllers for the PS2. I think it'd be cool. Of course, you'd still have the problem of learning controls over again, but...

Well, I am new to Brawl and I started off on the Wiimote + Nunchuck. I think I've been doing all right.
When my friends came over to play last night the Melee vet decided to switch to the 'mote+nunchuck and the other newbie used the GCC. The controllers didn't seem to make much of a difference for us (after we turned on the handicap for the experienced player). And the guy who was used to Melee on the GCc felt pretty good abot the 'mote+chuck by the end of the night.

I agree that this would be a great addition. And the Wii does have it's share of fighters (naruto, bleech, and DBZ off the top of my head), and a bunch more if you include the virtual console downloads (king of fighters, several versions of streetfighter, virtua fighter 1, and a bunch more).
