Hey smash players! Here you can let us know who you love to play with. Whos your main character? I dont have brawl or even a wii but I will definitly main with Meta knight or King dedede when I get it. Im leaning more towards Dedede though.

Dedede used to be my favorite, but i'm findin that captain falcon is pretty slammin and so is ike. My starter or i guess you would call main is snake, and my back up start is sonic. I am not too sure who my main is but i seem to be using snake a lot more now, so i guess he counts as my main. I like to think of bowser as my main, but i'm just no good with him, although it's fun as heck. :)

I wanted to main Ike, over the loss of my old main (Roy) but since Ike was too slow for my taste, I switched to Marth.

And, characters that I loathe to play:

Light: Olimar/Lucas
Medium: Luigi/Snake
Heavy: Wario/DeDeDe

I can play fairly successfully with them sometimes, but it always feels like a chore to do so.

He's the only person I've even HEARD of going to it, including all of my internet friends, which says something. If he wins Round 3, he gets an all expenses paid trip to California, where the final round is taking place. The Grand Prize is a Wii, some Brawl stuff, and I think 5000 dollars cash.

dang. if i remember right, there's like 8 round 3 tournaments in the country, and the 8 winners of those go to the finals. can you keep us updated on how he does?

also, do you know if they still have to use wiimote/nunchuk in the tournament?

That seems challenging, doesn't it? Does that means melee vets aren't so big at this tournament? You cant expect all of em to go from GC controller to nunchuck.

Well, I think the Nunchuck thing was specifically FOR Melee vets, so as to not give them an unfair advantage to newbs.

Of course, my friend is still one of the best Melee players around here...

It also doesn't seem fair to have someone who's never played the game before play someone who's played for years. Having a mandatory new configuration levels the playing field to make the game more enjoyable for everyone.

It depends on my gameplay of the day. If I played Fire Emblem (love that game), I'll play as Ike. But mostly, I'm a big Lucario person, unless I feel speedy like Squirtle (lol). Oh, and Jigglypuff. I love her Smash move.

Yeah I guess you cant really expect people who played for the first time to have fun when the vets take it to 'em old school style. Well maybe in the future when everybody is used to the game there will be such a tournament.

I think King DeDeDe is ok cuz hes powerful, but he does have too many flaws. Slow, too many openings, and his final smash isn't too special. I just use him for fun, not for winning.

DeDeDe is usuable, but I think he's underpowered.

Yes, he does have some of the highest attack in the game, but I think that the ratio of damage to speed is way too high. At least with Ganon/Falcon, you know that after the wait, it'll hurt. With DeDeDe, it's iffy.

I actually hate Wario quite a bit, but I'm not sure why. Something about the way he plays irks me. Diddy Kong is the same way.

Oh, and I've always hated Yoshi since N64 Smash.

Yeah I hate Wario too. His movements, his moves, his voice. Like you, for no real reason. But why hate yoshi?...:sad: Hes awsome. (wiping manly tear away)

Honestly? It's because in Smash 64, he was lame in the 1P mode, and he only had two jumps. Then, in Melee, I gave him a try again, and promptly side-B'd off a cliff. Repeatedly.

After that, I just gave up on him.

Yeah I see what you mean. His jump is big though, so I can see why they dont add another jump. As for the egg roll thing... I do that non-stop when I use him so I cant argue. I still think hes cool, so just like DeDeDe, I use yoshi for fun not for wins.

I can officially say i'm a heavy bowser player now. Man, the dude is finally got some real play to him. I used to never beat a marth player with bowser, now i can school even the speediest of characters. I've got four main characters now, and i'm working on three more. I've rampaged through most of my friends, and i need some more challenges. :) I'm working on my luigi right now, that way i can show some real skill.

My favs are Sonic and Marth. Haven't played enough to try out everyone since I don't own a Wii. I absolutely HATE how they gave Link such a power decrease! He used to be one of my top favs in SSBB and SSBBM. However, I absolutely love how Kirby got some of his "umph" back that they stripped away from him when the game went from SSBB to SSBBM.

i was playing smash with my friend all day yesterday

i noticed that when you play with a slow character, i.e. bowser and ike, you really have to predict your opponent's next move. always keep thinking ahead!!

Ike is my main, along with diddy kong, and sonic.

they really dumbed down marth. he doesn't have the same power as he used to :(

Hehe, wario. I haven't gotten around to playing with him, but i like how he runs, it's hilarious. He moves like a 2d character even though he's in 3d. Never tried him out, but does he have some pretty crazy combos?

His aerial game (believe it or not) is where he stands out, even though his jumping stinks. He can use his bike (side b) to greatly aid his recovery, his down throw is a pseudo-chain throw, and his forward smash and up air are both good KO moves. His waft is also a great KO move if you let it charge, and his bite (neutral b) can eat items and stop dash attacking enemies.

I play with Pikmin and Olimar, only the best character ever.
My secondary? Ganon. Why? He's fun, he has the sparta kick, and... he can kill in 4 hits, and I do kill in four hits.

Naw, it's just this thing from a manga, and yeah just about anyone would be lost if they had no clue what it was. Try looking up jojo's bizarre adventure once. It'll be worth your time. I was playing ganon a while back and now i see how decent he is. Although i was ashamed that his run speed was other players walking speed. It was funny for a while, and then it stopped being funny when i had to run to the other side of the stages. Good thing he's got some power to him. :)

Mr. Geezer, Ganon's dash attack is ridiculous, to get from one side to the other quickly, you must use this move. Ganon has priority and other things attributed to him, like the 4-hit death.

Hmmm.............four hit death huh? Does that involve that up 2 attack while still on the ground? That's the only way i can see that working effectively, besides just 1 over and over again. Even then, things are iffy. I'd have to see that in action to believe it though.

and you can also do a lag free down-air after a short hop if you do it really fast. i saw a ganon player get four consecutive down airs on someone and it was amazing.

OH wow. The only impressive things i've seen was snake's infinite jump with his grenades and up 1, and wolf's instant recover with his forward 1.

If you short-hop to down b really fast, Ganon sends out a small shockwave that does 8 damage but interrupts the enemy allowing you to follow up. It's good for stopping the opponent. At the same time, Pikmin is still good.

I've won all my tournaments so far with Oli, i two stock everyone. It's good times cuz the first time everyone was like, Rron, who do you use? i was like Olimar (oh, and this is how i learned how to use him. i memorized the guide on smashboards.com, and watched a ton of japanese version videos.), and everyone laughed.
I was like, all right, keep laughing...
Then when I beat everyone i was like, pwned!!! It was such a good time!

I just seen one of my friends at school perform and infinite jump with bowser. While it's got just about zero vertical increase, it has infinite horizontal movement if done correctly. It's as simple as jump forward 1, or B and then i think it was jump or air-dodge. And it's just a repeat after that. For all you bowser players out there, or anyone else experimenting. :)

*sigh* went back to solid snake training, so far i've learned a lot more about his moves, but i can't seem to get one technique down, which is supposedly horribly hard on wii mote, but it's possible. I wish i could see someone actually do it before me so i know what i'm doing wrong, but no one plays snake who lives near me. So far, i've learned a few new tricks, but the one i really need to learn is something i need for a GC controller, which i won't even pick up.

I enjoy playing as Jigglypuff and Kirby. I think Matte and I have unlocked everything but about 10 trophies and some stickers. But we're having fun playing through it a little at a time. We don't want to get burned out because we obsessed over it for a few weeks. ^_^
