Gimp Question

Does anyone know how to make the background transparent for a sprite on gimp. I'm entering the sprite contest and my sprite has to be transparent to be entered so I need to know fast. Thank you to all who respond.:-D

heh... you too huh?Ya. Gimp is so much more complecated than paint. I made the sprite on paint but I'm using gimp to make the background transparent.

I just downloaded it because Kay recommended it for this contest. I haven't even got is started yet.

I'm not sure what all Kay's link covers, but you can make a transparent layer. Do your drawing there.

I believe only GIF and PNG are able to handle transparency. BMP might be able to.

Thank you both but when I try to upload my image onto photobucket it keeps saying that it doesn't regconize the file type but I changed it to png and it still doesn't regconize it. Does anyone know what's up?:confused:

I did everything posted here and photobucket loaded mine just fine. I even tested it in my thread and it worked perfectly. Looked like :(:(:(:(, but it worked. lol. I hate how it changes all the black to transparent.
