Ok, I've had this on paper for quite some time. I've just been too lazy to type it up. I appreciate any comments or critique. Go easy on me though, I may write quite a bit, but usually I'm the only one that sees it. lol Hope you all enjoy.


Chronicles

Intro
Growing up around Hearthome City wasn’t the easiest thing for Belnum. It wasn’t that he was against contests, in fact they were fun. But he wasn’t good at them, nor did he feel they were his calling. He aspired to be a trainer, this is his tale.


Chapter 1:Mansion
Belnum loved to visit the mansion. Mr. Backlot was a little crazy, but a nice guy never-the-less, and his Trophy Garden was beautiful. Belnum made it part of his ritual to visit everyday. He would talk to Mr. Backlot for a bit then go into the garden and wander around just thinking and enjoying the sights, sounds, and occasional glances of Mr. Backlot’s prized Pokemon.

All this played through Belnum’s head as he headed for the mansion. Belnum waved to Reina and Jeremy as he passed them.

“Care for a match young man?” ask Jeremy.

“You know I don’t have any Pokemon.” laughed Belnum.

With a twinkle in his eye Jeremy nodded and said, “Maybe tomorrow then.”

Confused, Belnum arrived at the mansion. Mr. Backlot ran out to greet Belnum with an exuberance that stunned Belnum.

“Here you go my boy” said Mr. Backlot, handing Belnum a pokeball.

“What’s this for?” ask Belnum

“It’s a Pokeball” he replied, “It’s used to catch Pokemon.”

“I know that,” smiled Belnum, “I mean, why are you giving it to me?”

Very patiently he replied, “How else do you intend to catch the Pokemon?”

Trying not to laugh at the absurdity Belnum ask, “What Pokemon?”

“Oh, sorry bout that dear boy”, he said a bit sheepishly ,“I have a surprise for you in the Garden.”

Curiously Belnum accompanied him to the Garden.

Upon entering the Garden, Mr. Backlot sent Belnum into the grass. After seeing a bunch of Starly, Belnum ask what he was looking for. Mr. Backlot called his butler over and consulted with him for a moment.

“What do you mean they’re not here?” he ask the butler.

“Yes! Go take care of it,” he told the butler, “and hurry.”

After a short pause the butler returned and Mr. Backlot told Belnum to try again.

No sooner did Belnum take two steps, he came upon a small brown fox-like creature. Shocked at seeing the wondrous creature, Belnum didn’t have the presence of mind to throw the Pokeball.

“Capture it young man,” Mr. Backlot called encouragingly.

Belnum finally came to his senses and threw the pokeball. It shook a few times before signaling that the Pokemon had been successfully captured. Excited Belnum ran over to thank Mr. Backlot.

“You’re welcome,” he told Belnum, “This is a very special Pokemon. It’s called an Eevee and they aren’t very common in Sinnoh. In fact these were given to me from a friend at the Celadon mansion in Kanto. This is a very special Eevee as well. I wasn’t told exactly why it was special, but I suppose we’ll find out together. I do insist that you keep me updated of your progress as you train.”

“Of course I’ll keep you informed,” Belnum told him, then thanked him one last time before letting Eevee out of the pokeball and traveling home. Head held high, Belnum and his Eevee knew there was a long hard road ahead, but it would be worth it in the end.

Chapter 2
Wish

Belnum woke up with a start. It was the same dream he’d been having for the last week. Every night he’d wake up with just a vague recollection of something chasing him. As every other time as well he was comforted by the presence of his Eevee. The soft brown fur nuzzled by his head.

“You know I really need to name you. I’m not sure what though. Every thing I think of just doesn’t sound right. Oh well I’m sure it will come to me.” Belnum smiled as the Eevee looked up at Belnum and nudged his head. “So you want to go out for a bit?” Belnum ask, knowing the same ritual would follow. They loved going out at night just to take in the sights and sounds of the night creatures. Belnum grabbed an apple for the road, and headed for the door. In his rush he almost forgot his pack, but remembered it at the last moment, strapping it on as he walked out the door.

Heading south, they wandered by the mansion, waving at the policemen as the passed them. They took a moment by a small pond to revel in the peaceful atmosphere. They watched the moonlight reflecting off the pond, distorted by the occasional ripple, while the Kricketune played their enchanting melodies to the night.

Moving along as a light drizzle began to come down. Neither of them minded, both of them enjoying the cooling sensation of the rain as it fell from the heavens. So intently were they enjoying it that the edge of the marsh came upon them much sooner than anticipated and almost caught Belnum by unawares. Stopping just in time Belnum jokingly chided Eevee for not warning him. “You’d have liked to have seen me fall in the mud, wouldn’t you?” Belnum smiled. The Eevee laughed, and danced around in the grass.

A glimmer caught Belnum’s attention. He turned towards it, and looked intently. There again was the light. Belnum stepped in that direction, only to find his path was going to be quite muddy. Choosing his steps carefully Belnum made way toward the light. Even so the mud still stuck to Belnum’s shoes and made it hard to move, each step creating a suction sound. Suddenly Belnum’s foot wouldn’t come loose and he fell down only to land face to face with an Ekans. They both seemed pretty startled, and in its fear the Ekans bit Belnum.

Belnum could feel the poison quickly coursing through him as he struggled to get out of the mud. As he watched the Ekans slither away, he thought he caught a glimpse of what the source of the light was. It looked oddly like a Mismagius holding a lantern, which had to be a hallucination caused by the poison. Slowly drifting into darkness Belnum finally remembered the Antidote he always carried, though he was too weak to use it.

Eevee finally came upon her fallen friend. She knew he had something that would take care of an Ekans’ bite; he was always prepared for the worst. She briefly wondered why he hadn’t attempted to use it then just as quickly realized it had come upon him too quick. Cursing her lack of opposable thumbs the Eevee knew what she must do to save her friend. Something her father had taught her. The human trainers called it “Wish”. She began to hum softly to herself as an aura surrounded them both. Briefly, it illuminated the area where the light had originally came from, but Eevee was to focused to notice.

Belnum came around feeling very strange. Remembering what had happened he went for the antidote immediately. Not sure why he felt better, he began to look around and saw Eevee sitting there, a bit drained, but no worse for the wear. Flashbacks of Eevee humming and the healing came back to Belnum. Not fully realizing the implications, but knowing enough to remember Mr. Backlot’s words, “This is a very special Eevee as well. I wasn’t told exactly why it was special, but I suppose we’ll find out together.”

On the return trip, Belnum stopped for a conference with Mr. Backlot. The sun was cresting the horizon by this time, and knowing what an early riser Mr. Backlot is, Belnum had no compunctions about visiting. Belnum shared the whole story, and an intrigued Mr. Backlot informed Belnum that the move sounded like a move called Wish.

“It’s not a very common move. I only know of a handful of Pokemon that can learn it. I wonder what else Eevee is hiding from us.” Mr. Backlot laughed, “So how’s the training been going?”

“It’s been going great. I’m going to challenge Fantina tomorrow.” Belnum replied excitedly.

“I’m sure you’ll do great, just remember Fantina isn’t a pushover.” he warned. “Make sure you don’t get overconfident or forget to study your opponent.”

Ok, part two complete :D I loved it, but I have one problem :sad:

It like turning on the tv and finding a great movie. You know it's going to end soon (come on and wrap it up already), then across the screen

Raise male togetic until it gets wish breed with skitty, Raise male skitty, breed with evee. Now you have one wishful evee.

Or you can spend hours on the gts trading for evees, and all their evolutions until you find one with wish.

When I first did an Eevee I used a Smeargle for expediency, though I can't remember what I used to teach Seargle wish. :oops:

.....I just wrote quite a bit while waiting for the Dr to check my sons finger yesterday. (He mashed it and they wanted to make sure nothing was broke. )

Unfortunately I've gotten myself a bit carried away on this segment and I'm not sure how quickly I can wrap it up. (Don't want to end the segment abruptly) And I really don't want to split this up. :-D

In MY day people were lucky to even live to an age where you could take a college class, what with all the sabertooths around. And as I recollect, "Inventing the candle 101" was a freshman course. You had to be a senior to take "Fan Fiction," and it consisted of mostly handprints on the cave walls in the dark!

This one was a bit long, so I've broken it down into two parts. :-D Thanks for all the patience and support.

Chapter 3
Relic Gym

Belnum and his Eevee approached the Gym, each exuding a level of determination that allowed no hesitation to show. Not that they weren’t nervous, quite the contrary. Belnum had never been so nervous in his life, but his iron resolve wouldn’t allow faltering as each step drew him closer to his goal. The Eevee’s faith in Belnum gave her the strength to remain composed.

The building had a foreboding aura about it. Perhaps it was the harsh quiet, or the way light seemed to avoid the place in general. Most likely it was both. Regardless, Belnum felt a chill as he reached for the door. He was amused to find that he had tensed himself anticipating the door creaking in a spooky manner.

Upon entering they were struck by the cold beauty, and more so by the emptiness. With only some paintings to witness their arrival, they walked toward the first challenge, defeating the Gyms Trainers. Belnum’s footsteps echoed loudly in his ears, but wasn’t quite able to drown out the pounding of his heart as they moved closer to their goal. They took a collective breath and entered the first alcove, and were greeted by… no one. Thoroughly puzzled they stood stunned as all the anticipation was replaced by confusion. Deciding not to linger and tempt fate they moved on to the lift.

Twice more they came to empty rooms. Totally unbalanced by this, it was a heart stopping shock to come upon a large mostly empty room. Mostly because in the center of the room stood a woman who could only be Fantina. Belnum was quite familiar with her, seeing her perform many times in contests, but never this close and never in her own domain. In her domain she was very intimidating, almost ethereal. She spoke and it was the most haunting sound Belnum had ever heard.

“Why do you come here Belnum?”

He was visibly startled by this announcement. He had never actually met Fantina, so her familiarity with his name snapped him back from the pseudo trance her voice had put him in.

“I’m here to challenge you.” Belnum replied, hoping he was successful in keeping the quaver from his voice. “How do you know my name?”

“That is not important. What is important is that you aren’t ready to face me,” she spoke without malice or arrogance. “Leave here, and come back when you’re ready.”

“I am ready. I’ll not leave without y challenge being met,” Belnum demanded, furious at himself for harboring those same self-doubts she had added voice to.

“Very well then,” with that she threw a pokeball while calling, “Go Drifblim”.

At that a pokemon emerged that looked very similar in appearance to a balloon. It floated there awaiting command. “Drifblim use Curse,” and with that Drifblim started chanting. Suddenly Eevee’s body contorted in extreme pain as if she had been assaulted, though she remained untouched.

Belnum immediately ran to her side, holding her through the convulsions. As Eevee regained her composure, she took an aggressive stance and started repeating the chant that Drifblim had only moments before uttered. She seemed to become tougher, muscles expanding slightly, though she moved a bit slower.

Once again her body contorted in pain, but she shrugged it off this time. Belnum wasn’t quite sure what was happening, but he knew Eevee wouldn’t be able to take many more of those spasms.

“Eevee use Wish,” Belnum yelled, just as Fantina called back Drifblim to send out Gengar. Unsure of this pokemon Belnum commanded Eevee to use quick attack, hoping to gain the upper hand. The attack passed right through Gengar as if it wasn’t there, and Eevee landed in a heap on the other side. She struggled back over to Belnum. She contorted in pain yet again as she made it back to Belnum.

“Gengar use Poison Jab,” Fantina said.

Part 2

Belnum, unsure of how much more Eevee could take, jumped in front of the attack. He caught only a part of the blow, while Eevee took the brunt of it. Belnum shrugged off the pain and ran to an unmoving Eevee. Tears streamed down his face as he knelt by her. He picked her up, and nuzzled her close, silently willing her to be ok.

Several things happened at once. The curse took its toll, this time causing Eevee’s fur to become more silver. Belnum continued to hold her close as a gentle healing light enveloped her body and spread to Belnum as well. The light became much more intense as Eevee’s body seemed to change.

Her body and ears grew longer, her fur shorter and changed color. The silver fur became as dark as a moonless night, except in a few spots where glowing rings appeared. They were twilight blue in color. And her eyes took on a yellow hue.

Seemingly re-energized with her new body, she leapt down with a grace that was breathtaking. Belnum became aware of his companions thoughts, and she his.

*I suppose I won’t be calling you Eevee anymore*, Belnum thought. He knew that Eevee had just evolved into an Umbreon, though the colorations weren’t quite the same as he had seen before. Looking at her Belnum was reminded of those tranquil nights they had played and trained in the light of the moon. He was struck with a sudden inspiration. *Luna sounds right* he thought happily *what do you think?*

*I like Luna, but don’t you think we should worry about that rather nasty looking Gengar?* Luna communicated to Belnum.

In awe of all the happening, Belnum had all but forgotten the battle. He snapped back to attention, and noted the sneer on Gengar’s face. Luna must have noted it too, because the next thought Belnum received from her was *I think it’s time for a little Payback*.

With that Luna seemed to brace herself as Fantina commanded Gengar to use Shadow Ball. The move hit and Luna lashed back with a ball of energy that seemed almost as dark as her fur. Gengar seemed to stagger for a moment after the blast, and then went down.

Fantina returned Gengar to his pokeball and sent back out the Drifblim. “Drifblim, use Ominous Wind,” Fantina called. Again Luna braced herself, though the attack barely seemed to faze her. Payback hit Drifblim and it went down. As it did Luna was hit by an aftershock from the attack, but she shrugged it off.

Fantina threw out her final pokeball, “Go Mismagius.” As Belnum looked at the pokemon that had come out, he recalled the Ekans attack, and the Mismagius he saw.

“It was that Mismagius that was wandering with the lantern wasn’t it?”, Belnum inquired. “Why?” he ask.

Without bothering to answer Fantina commanded Mismagius to use Confuse Ray. Luna began to stagger around, seeming bewildered. “Are you ok Luna?” Belnum ask, “Try and use Wish.”

Luna fumbled around for a moment before accidentally using Payback on herself. Fortunately it didn’t bother her too much. “Try to use Wish again”, Belnum called. At this Luna seemed to regain her bearings just in time to see a wave of Psychic energy come toward her, and sputter away. She made her wish, and braced herself in anticipation of Belnum’s request to use Payback.

“Use Shadow Ball Mismagius,” Fantina said, seemingly unaffected by what was to come. The energy came toward Luna as she absorbed that attack, and retaliated with Payback. Mismagius went down at that.

A solemn quiet descended then finally broken by a shout of excitement shared by Belnum and Luna as he joyously picked her up. “You did it girl,” Belnum told Luna. *No Belnum we did it.* Luna thought to him. “Fine, we did it,” Belnum smiled.

“Well, Belnum, seems you were ready,” Fantina said. Startled by the sudden warmth in her voice, Belnum was at a loss for words. “You and Umbreon make a great team,” Fantina continued, “And for your efforts I’d like to award you with the Relic badge, I must confess that Mismagius and I had set out to look in on your training. Once I heard Mr. Backlot speak so highly of your connection with Eevee and your determination I had to see it for myself. It’s not often enough that trainers bond so closely with their pokemon. Of course my dratted lantern flashed toward you and caught your attention, so Mismagius left before we were discovered. Mismagius had held back a bit and when she saw the Ekans she came to get my lantern to warn you, but too late. She came to get me, but I arrived just in time to see Eevee make her Wish and bring you back enough to use your antidote. You and Luna really are a great team.” Fantina smiled, “I wish you luck on your journey, usually I give trainers a TM as well, but I’d also like you to meet someone.” With that a Kirlia walked out. “Kirlia has been following me around, and keeps asking for adventure, but I have to stay here and run the Gym. He’s a little rambunctious, but I think he can really help you out.”

“I’d be honored,” Belnum told Fantina. Kirlia stood ready as Belnum threw the pokeball. It signaled that it had captured the pokemon. He walked over to the pokeball and released the Kirlia, who immediately came over to him and Luna and began chattering away to them.

*Very energetic,* Luna commented happily to Belnum. *He says he can’t wait to get started.*

“Thank you for everything Fantina,” Belnum said.

“Your welcome and again good luck,” she said, and with that she left.

Heads held high the three of them left the Gym to prepare for the next leg of their journey.
