So I have started playing my leaf green on and off lately when I got to thinking. is it possible to breed the exclusive move tutor moves such as mega punch, mega kick, and seismic toss to successive generations of pokemon?
Example. I started leaf green after I learned the tried and true techniques of move passing so I intentionally put mega punch and mega kick on male species. Looking at my national dex I found that these Pokemon can no longer learn these moves even as egg.
While they can't learn it in diamond and pearl I wonder if they can learn it as egg moves in the old versions?
Also, side topic isnt the chance of a shiny or formula for breeding shinies better in the old games? Where are the other move tutors and what does that crazy lady at the top of tiny island 2 do?

in 2 island she teaches the best move the starter can learn
charizard=blast burn
venusaur=frenzy plant
Blastoise= Hydro cannon
I think 3rd gen shiny chances are the same as 4th gen but I could be wrong. I know they changed the formula from 2nd gen to 3rd gen but I think that was the only time, therefore it'd be the same.

Thanks All. I am going to answer the move tutor breeding question tonight. I feel like a kid at Christmas waiting to open his presents. I wonder what will hatch from the egg!

I hate to rain on anyone's parade, but it isn't going to work :(
The move tutor moves follow all the normal rules of breeding, so if the learner is a male he can pass them to other pokemon if the offspring species can learn the move via breeding. If a pokemon can only learn a move from the tutor and cannot be bred to know it normally, it can't be bred to know it if the parents were tutored.
So for example, you can tutor a Makuhita to know fire punch, but cannot breed one that does, even if both parents do.
(Here's hoping for a return of the Emerald Move tutor in the next 4th Gen game)
Of course, any pokemon you tutor up in Gen III will keep it's moves when Palparked up, so there is that.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
My parade has been canceled on account of too much rain.
Well I guess I need put the destroyer to good use then...
EDIT:
I just found out I have to beat the elite four before I can get to a breeding day care even :(
On the plus side I do have a lucky egg I got from a chansey in the safari zone, so I shall be there sooner than I think.
I also caught all the legendary birds- big bird, tickles, and kookoo

Sure they can Razor!
THere is a move tutor in Leaf Green that teaches soft boiled. Is there any pokemon besides chansey that can learn this?

Clefairy
Clefable
Chansey
Mew
Cleffa
Togepi

AFAIK Mew has always been an event giveaway. The very first Nintendo Events back in the Red/Blue days gave away Mew.
As for Gen III ways to get Mew in the US, the only one I am aware of was a ToysRUs giveaway several years ago (Like Manaphy and Darkrai).
There was also an in-game item that would get the passanger ship to take you to a new island where one Mew could be caught in the wild, but a quick browse of the internet leads me to belive these items were only given away in Japan.
There are fairly reliable reports that Mew can be downloaded to Diamond & Pearl from the WiiWare title Pokemon Ranch if you deposit 1000 pokemon. (Assuming it ever gets released outside Japan )

I am going to do an experiment tonight (since I finally beat the E4) and try and breed pokemon in leaf green with move tutor moves.
I will also see if I can make any exceptions to the rule. I have noticed many irritating differences between level up moves in leaf green and pearl and tonight the fruits of my labor will be tested!

Serebii still has a R/S/E/FR/LG PokéDex.
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-rs/
It also has listed sometimes in the D/P PokéDex 3rd Gen only moves.
Also I noticed that there was R/S/E and FR/LG, so would the new game coming out make the 4th Gen D/P/P? Yeah you know me.

Probibly D/P/PL is what I assume will be used.

I would be suprised if nobody got any new egg moves in Platinum.

That's why I gave up on most move tutor moves because I couldn't breed them back in to eggs. Since most can only be used once, I'm still waiting for that perfect pokemon to use it on.

I know that I've gotten father's using the move tutors. Lets say that there are three pokemon, A, B, and C. A and B can each learn one out of two egg moves I want on C, but B can also learn the other move using a tutor. Then I can get both egg moves into the correct pokemon when I wouldn't have been able to do that before.

If its an egg move and the father knows it by move tutor, then it can pass it down. Some of the old move tutor moves are TMs now (rock slide, substitute, thunder wave, explosion, etc.) so if you palparked the pokemon to diamond or pearl it can father babies that can learn the move if they can learn it by TM.
For instance a Heracross can learn rock slide in the 3rd Gen games, but even if the father and mother both know rock slide the babies won't inherit it. But in 4th Gen Games Rock Slide is now a TM learnable by Heracross so the babies will be born with the Rock Slide move.

Yeah, you said that so much better than I did. I'm just saying that it can be very useful. Sometimes you can't learn an egg move by TM, but a parent in LG can learn it through leveling and a move tutor and then voila! You have yourself a prime pappa. :)

Most of the time they are added when new pre-evolutions are made. I don't believe there will be any new normal Pokemon, just a Legendary or two.

So I am thinking of picking up a copy of emerald to get some more pokes for my pokedex and some wonderful move tutors. What I want to know is how one gets a charmander, to emerald or sapphire to teach flame fist.
Any advice is appreciated.

You trade over from fire red into emerald. Then teach it fire fist, and pal park it into D/P.

This is absolutely correct. The thing you have to remember is that there will be a lot of work to get this far:
- You need to get to the Battle Frontier in Emerald. To do this you need to defeat the elite four.
- You need to gather enough Battle Points to afford the move tutor. This will involve a moderate amount of time in the Battle Frontier
- You also need a copy of FireRed/LeafGreen that will allow you to trade to Emerald. FR/LG let you trade between them almost from the beginning, but to trade to R/S/E you need to beat the Elite Four in that game and then travel to the Sevi islands and recover the Ruby and Emerald that have been stolen by various neir-do-wells.
It is quite possible, just going to be a long haul.......

The good news is I have a leaf green I unlocked to access sapphire emerald and ruby. I am prepared to do the battling in Emerald. But How can I trade between games I only have two DS Lites. Are gameboys required or am I out of luck?

Unfortunately you can't trade between third generation games on fourth generation consoles. In layman's terms, you need GBA and you will need 2 of them in order to trade. It is a lot of trouble to go through just for move tutor moves.

I actually do something different. I trade my pokemon from fire red into XD, then I trade it from XD into Emerald. You still need a gamecube and a GBA though.

Depending on how dedicated you are to this project, a used GBA can be had for $25 from Gamestop and other such outfits.

Not to mention a GC/GBA link cable for that one. Should have thought of that, but a gamecube and XD/Colosseum title would be going through even more trouble LOL, considering you have to finish the game's storyline also.
