:242:#242 Blissey

The Happiness Pokemon

Abilities:
Serene Grace: The chances of a move having an effect doubles.

Natural Cure: The pokemons Status problems are healed upon withdrawal from battle.

Type: Normal

Evolves from Chansey by maxing out it's happiness.

Base Stats
HP: 255
Attack: 10
Defense: 10
Special Attack: 75
Special Defense: 135
Speed: 55

Total: 540

The Wall.
Nature: Bold
Item: Leftovers/Chople Berry
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 6 Sp. Def
Moves:
Thunder wave/Sing
Seismic Toss
Softboiled
Ice Beam/Aromatherapy

The queen of OU special walling herself, she is the best special wall in the game hands down. With a freakishly large HP, Blissey can sponge special attacks and some physical attacks(hence, the defensive spread). You can forgo Thunderwave for Sing if you don't want to risk give Electivire a free Motor Drive or Garchomp a free switch in(if you're not running Ice Beam). This Blissey, can cripple threat with either Paralysis, or sleep and heal status afflictions with Aromatherapy.

The Calm Minder
Nature: Modest/Bold
Item:Leftovers
EVs:4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA
Moves:
Softboiled
Calm Mind
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt

This set utilizes the bolt/beam combo, being able to hit just about everything for neutral damage comes in very handy. Calm Mind up to boost your special defenses and special attack further and attack away

Serene Grace
Nature: Modest
Item: Leftovers/Chople Berry
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA
Moves:
Shadow Ball
Ice Beam
Thunder/bolt/Charge Beam
Softboiled

Just what the name suggest this set is to abuse Serene Grace, with this ability Shadow ball has a 40% chance of lowering the foes special defense, Ice Beam is for freeze hax and type coverage and the electric attack really is your choice, you can use Charge Beam to further boost your special attack or thunder/bolt to try for some paralysis hax.

Choice Specs
Nature: Modest
Item: Choice Specs
EVs:4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA
Moves:
Flamethrower
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Rest

Just like the above variation, this Blissey's offensive hence the investment in special attack. This Bliss is a Nasty Surprise for unsuspecting opponents. If you want, you can probably work Psychic, in the moves set also.

Just thought I'd comment on this set though it's been a while since you posted it. But if your gonna run Ice Beam I strongly recommend investing in some special attack EV's. A decent spread for it would be 148HP/252 Def/108 SpAtk. Also, that spread is from Smogon as I'm feeling unoriginal right now

Another move I love to run on my Bliss is Charm. You can Charm and incoming physical attacker, which allows Blissey to sometimes stay in or eases your next switch.

Ah, yes. I keep forgetting about Charm, it would also be useful to forcing switches too.

im asking this, already knowing the answer. but i just can't get over it. anywhoo. can you only get a bold blissey with seismic toss in the 3rd gen games right?

i might as well ask this too. I know that sing isn't an attack, but with serene grace, will it hit...with more accuracy or something? or am i delusional...?

The only way to get a S-toss Blissey is by 3rd gen move tutoring, and Serene Grace only influences the side effects of moves, not accuracy.

Seismic Toss is only 3rd Gen.

Serene Grace only effects attacks secondary effects, like Burn, Poison, or Paralyze.

I believe it's limited to Fire Red and Leaf Green only.

Thunderwave is a Tm, you can just teach it to her.

Or better yet breed it in using Pikachu, Plusle or Minun

It's been said but The only way to get a blissey with seismic toss is in leaf green or fire red.

Even in these gmaes it is an extreme pain because you have to spend a very very long time in the safari zone tracking down chansey. Then when you do find her you need to catch her. Which again is very difficult.

Now that you finally caught her chances are she is not bold so you need to defeat the elite four and unlock the sevii island with the breeding daycare. Stick chansey and a bold ditto with everstone in and wait till you hatch a bold chansey. Then go back to the museum and teach her seismic toss.

It's that easy :-)

Sure you make it sound simple, but the everstone trick doesn't work in leaf green or fire red, you need to get emerald for that.

Deneves is correct. You need to breed up a bold Chansey in Emerald and trade her over to use the move tutor, or you need to hunt that much longer in FR/LG
