Chapter 8: Nightmare (Part 2)
“…Flyeee!”
Andy let out a groan as she began to wake up. She slightly opened her eyes to see Flygon shaking her awake, a worried look on its face.
“What happened?” Andy murmured. “Wait…it’s nighttime! Did we all fall asleep?”
She sat up, noticing that Cyrus, Peter, and Ellie were all missing. Maxine was sound asleep a few feet away, along with Jirachi and Deoxys. Andy ran over to her limp body and began to prod her awake. “Maxine! The others—they’re missing—it’s nighttime and I think we’ve been asleep!”
“What is your problem, rookie?” snapped Maxine. “I’m trying to sl—“ Her words were cut off when she realized what had occurred. “Oh, my gosh… Where’s my ride?”
“Is that all you can think about, Maxine?” Andy yelled in frustration. “You’re so selfish…”
“You know what?!” Maxine roared back. “My Dragonair means everything to me! If those dirty Magnus goons lay ONE FINGER on it, I’m gonna knock them into next week! Got it? We have to get it back before they do something!”
Andy started to reply, but stopped after hearing a loud shriek from behind her. She spun around to see Jirachi levitated in mid-air, body thrust backward as if it were going to snap. Its eyes were wide-open, and yet, pitch black. A dark red aura surrounded its frail body, and Andy stepped back in fear.
Deoxys awoke with a start, immediately sensing something was wrong. <<Jirachi!>> it cried. <<What has occurred in my rest?>>
“We don’t know,” replied Andy, “but something’s wrong with Jirachi!”
<<Wait… I remember this symptom… I myself had it once, back during the Holy War. The Black-Eyed Stare… The convulsions… Yes… Darkrai…>>
“Darkrai?” Andy gasped. Flygon chimed in with a worried cry.
“Oh, yeah, right!” laughed Maxine. “Darkrai’s some hocus-pocus legend made to scare little kids. It can’t be real…”
<<Oh, but it is… It looks like Jirachi’s under Darkrai’s Dark Void… And, according to the trajectory of the planets, we only have three days left under Jirachi returns to stone… We must hurry!>>
“But, what do we do?” inquired Andy.
<<Have you heard of Cresselia’s Lunar Wing? We need it to wake Jirachi. If we don’t, Darkrai will manipulate its wishing abilities to its own good—or should I say, evil!>>
“So, how are we gonna get the Lunar Wing?”
<<We must wait… Until the full moon rises…>>
“The full moon? That’s tomorrow night!” Maxine realized.
“So, we only have one day after the full moon to get the Lunar Wing and save Jirachi?” asked Andy.
<<Right. The fate of the world is in our hands now…>>
“Boy, what a cliché…” groaned Maxine.
((So, I'm planning on just one or two more chapters in this series. I'd like to finish before I go to camp/France next week Friday, so keep checking back for updates. Also, expect a new fan-fic when I return in July, featuring many Legendary Pokemon. :)))
