I've been polking at my E-Reader again and got to thinking: Would a really high-rez scanner + a good laser printer allow you to scan and print E-Cards?

The detail on the scan line is *very* fine, but modern equipment can do some pretty amazing things.

Or would this be considered Piracy? In which case nevermind.

I am surprised no one has responded to this. Have you tried it yet? I am really curious.

I don't know if anyone would really care enough now to go after you since its soooo dead buuuuut I wouldn't feel bad considering the amount of money spent on the dang E-card reader was not in any way proportional to the amount of time or support that it got. I was really disappointed in Nintendo's lack of expansion for animal crossing, pokemon and for games beyond golf or Donkey Kong. I think I used it a few times to get some items for Animal Crossing and that was about it since I almost never found the packages around us after buying it.

I still have all of the battle e-reader cards for Ruby/Sapphire.

What is this e-reader you speak of?

So is there any advantage to currently purchasing one of these now and the pokemon cards?

@ Jhamin- I say try it but you may be better off using an inkjet printer instead of a laser. Because laser inks tend to be glossier. Also experiment with different paper stocks. It may be though the cards have a small chip in them for the card reader. But heck if I know I just learned what it was.

edit I just found you get an actual eon ticket this way!

I still have my EON ticket somewhere in my house. It came in an issue of Nintendo Power. That issue (in stores) was notorious for not having the card. Little kids were attacking the magazine rack and removing them.

I don't have the Eon Card but I have 3-4 packs of the regular Pokemon E-Reader cards. That was where I got my Enigma Berries from :D.

I expect the challange is going to be getting a clean enough scan of the dot-code, then printing it cleanly. A quick pass through my 1200DPI travel scanner produced too much distortion to be readable but my wife has a much better flatbed scanner attached to her computer.

The dot code is much denser and much smaller than a UPC bar code. I suspect I will need a laser printer just to get down to a fine enough grain to reproduce the dots correctly.

I'll have to experiment and see what I come up with.

I don't doubt that it's possible, but man, you would need to have access to a HIGH res scanner/printer for it to work. Unless you already had one, it seems expensive just to get some e-Reader stuff. XD

you've piqued my interest with this e-reader thing Jhamin. I have been surfing ebay for the elusive eon ticket. But I cant seem to find one for less than $40. I just started sapphire so I thought it might be nice to implement that. I already have an enigma berry (thank you GTS.) But I think a $10 ereader would be well worth it for a latias or latios.

Plus a Soul Dew.

I have one from one of my old friends (who had an eon ticket and the ereader) but I don't really talk to that kid anymore, so...
