Ok guys, I was reading my fire red manual & noticed that there is an update for the berry program for sapphire/red. I have an old gba & a gba sp that I have linked. I've done what the book says, and I can get to the instruction screen on the fire red that tells me to turn on the system with the sapphire cartridge, but then nothing happens. How do I know if it's updating? The link cable I'm using is one I got with a gbc starter pack, but the connections are the same on the gba systems I have. Am I doing something wrong? Any info would be appreciated. :D

Have you already done it once before? I think you just need to do it once, and then the update stays there whether or not you start new games.
Did you ever receive Jirahi from Colosseum? That will also transfer the update. :)

I don't have Jirachi, and I have tried to do the update, but I don't know if it's worked. I never get past the screen that says to turn on the 2nd system with the sapphire cartridge while holding select & start. I get the "screen" it shows in the instructions, but nothing else happens. Is that all there is to it?

Hm, I dunno. The patch is supposed to fix the timing glitch in the game. Originally, the timer (for one reason or another) would stop moving: berries would stop growing, PKRS would never disappear, day/night cycle stopped.

Does it still appear as if your timer is stuck?

I don't even know if it is. I just saw in the manual that there was an update, and thought I needed to do it.

gbc starter pack

There's your problem right there.

The GBC cable, while it does fit into GBAs, only work for GBC games. You'll need an actual GBA cable to do that.

Ok, thanks. I was wondering if that was the problem.
