Deoxys has 4 different forms: Normal, Attack, Speed & Defense

If you search in the south-eastern part of Veilstone City you will find 4 meteorites.



If Deoxys is in your party and you press the A button touching a meteorite, the deoxys form will change.

The upper meteorite - Touching the meteorite boosted the speed of a certain Pokemon - Speed form

The middle meteorite - Touching the meteorite balanced out the attributes of a certain Pokemon - Normal form

The bottom left meteorite - Touching the meteorite heightened the defense capabilities of a certain Pokemon - Defense form

The bottom right meteorite - Touching the meteorite heightened the offensive capabilities of a certain Pokemon - Attack form

So now you have a Deoxys on your DS and you want to start training it.
The first thing to do is decide on the function/form of your Deoxys.

Obviosly with four different forms, there are a lot of options with this pokemon.
Too many to list in fact, so I am only detailing a couple.


Speed has balanced attack/defense stats and is the fastest base pokemon...so what.
No one uses Quick Attack in Uber battles.
Being the first to land an attack only means something if you're knocking out pokemon.
Normal has better defense stats that attack, but that doesn't help it enough to survive many attacks.

Stick with attack or defense forms.
Which one of the below you choose should be based on the nature and IVs of your Deoxys.

Any plus speed or attack nature, go with attack form.
Any plus defense nature, go with defense form.
If you get a negative defense or neutral nature Deoxys, go with the mixed attacker


ATTACK

Mixed Attacker
Nature: Hasty/Naive
Item: Expert Belt/Life Orb
EVs: 106 Attack / 152 Special Attack / 252 Speed
Moves:
Superpower
Thunderbolt / Thunder
Ice Beam
Shadow Ball

This set has the best type coverage and most powerful and consistant moves.
Palkia is the only Uber this set cannot hit with a super effective attack.


Special Attacker
Nature: Timid/Modest/Rash
Item: Expert Belt/Choice Specs/Life Orb
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Special Attack / 252 Speed
Moves:
Thunderbolt / Thunder
Ice Beam
Shadow Ball
Psychic

Thunder over Thunderbolt with Kyorge support. Ice Beam for flyers and Groudon. Shadow Ball for Psychic enemies. And Psychic for a STAB.
Don't use Psycho Boost! You cannot afford to lose two stages of Special Attack with this set.


Physical Attacker
Nature: Adamant/Jolly/Naughty
Item: Expert Belt/Choice Band/Life Orb
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Speed
Moves:
Superpower
Pursuit
Rock Slide
Extremespeed / Zen Headbutt

This set has the least variety of attack choices, but most Ubers have higher special defense than defense so it works.
If you have a 3rd generation Deoxys, use move tutor to add Fire Punch / Ice Punch / ThunderPunch. Pokemon Platinum move tutor...please???





DEFENSE

Stall
Nature: Careful/Impish
Item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 106 Defense / 152 Special Defense
Moves:
Spikes
Stealth Rock
Protect / Knock Off / Taunt
Recover

This set works best if your entire team is built around stalling out the battle.


Calm Minder
Nature: Calm/Bold
Item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Defense / 106 Special Attack
Moves:
Calm Mind
Recover / Rest
Grass Knot / Ice Beam
Shadow Ball

It is what it is. Boost, recover and attack.


Counter
Nature: Sassy/Relaxed
Item: Leftovers / Focus Sash
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Defense / 106 Special Defense
Moves:
Protect
Counter
Mirror Coat
Knock Off / Taunt / Snatch

This is the most difficult Deoxys to use. This set requires a little confidence in your own prediction skills.
It is outstanding at taking out Choice Scarf opponents.
This can make a good lead pokemon.

Pretty much the only pokemon you don't need to SR to get a good nature for unless you absolutely want a specific type of deoxys or special IV's.

Would Speed form be worth a look since it is in the OU tier rather than Uber?

I was trying to come up with a set that would work for both speed and attack forms..here's what I came up with.

Focus Blast - SP Fight 120
Psycho Boost - SP Psychic (140)
Ice Beam - SP Ice (95)
Thunderbolt - Electric (95)

I also thought about having superpower in there, but i think with the STAB Psycho Boost that is moot.

The above set is full on Special Sweeper, probably a choice item. 252 in SpAtk, Whatever in speed makes it fastest in speed form, and rest in HP.

Again - I havent completed fleshing this idea out, but with the ease of swapping from one form to the other, Its probably worth a look by someone better than I.

i dunno about psycho boost. its more of a last resort move, with it having reducing sp atk by two stages

and i would replace focus blast with superpower. even though your set is mostly a special sweeping, you can catch darkrai offguard with the superpower. altho in the OU metagame, dugtrio does trap a deoxys while it sucker punches away.
