View Full Version : Here's a small question...

I've been reading the rules, and I'm a bit concerned about something...

Now, I bred every Pokemon on my team, but I did some of it on my girlfriend's game because she had the parents on her file, and then I traded the baby over to my game and raised it myself (rather than giving myself the parents, cause she wanted to keep her Pokemon). So basically, even though I hatched them and raised them, the OT says 'Kitty' rather than 'Sean'. Do I have to start all over on my Pokemon (oh god T_T), or is this permitted? Or rather, if I explain that to the Gym Leader, will it be forgivable?
It's only on 2 or 3 of my team, I think. But I'm quite proud of those 2 or 3. lol

The trouble isn't that I'd have to do it all over, it's that I recently moved a couple of states away from my girlfriend, and so I might not have the parents I need to breed the Pokemon the way I had it! And I'm not sure we'll be able to trade long distance.. Aaahh!

as a guideline, i would say you wouldnt qualify for a shiny badge on the gm challenge. speak to the gym leader or Steve about it.

however, what Pokemon are they, because you might be able to breed with dittos for a new one

You can also do a long distance trade with your gf over Wi-Fi.

It's my understanding that the challenger's team must have pkmn bred from the same cartridge & file that they are used to battle with.
This was a discussion that had involved breeding between Emerald & D/P. It's simply too difficult for Gym Leaders to verify for sure that you really bred them. It's important to remain consistent with all challengers.

That is the bottom line right there. If we trusted everyone with blind faith, some could take advantage. So if we started treating everyone like cheaters, it is not fair.

So keeping the system as, each Pokemon has to be bred on the game chip it is being played on, is a balanced system. Is it fair for all, not always but no system is fair to everyone. I own all the 3rd Gen games, but I don't breed my teams on them.

Another factor with 3rd Gen games, using an AR in a 3rd Gen still comes to Pal Park saying from Kanto or Johto.

Not saying anyone is cheating, but can you say with 100% accuracy that nobody is?

Unfortunately this eliminates any pokemon you might have bred in third generation games to use move tutors. I have the same problems with all my games. I suggest you get regular gym badges first and then if you want the shiny badge rebreed them all in one cartridge. Pokemon Ranch will be a great help in doing this.

As Deneves has said, the fact that your team comes from several games will prevent you from getting the Shiny Badges with them.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just getting any badges is an accomplishment. The shinys are a bonus for the more obsessive. Challange a gym or two with the best team you have before you worry about rebreeding.

It is a good question, it is answered more in-depth in this thread (http://forum.pokefarm.com/showthread.php?t=6526)
