So I thought I would start a thread and maybe get some people out of hiding.

I am openly admitting I have not tried for all the badges because I do not have an adequate team trained. :(

The teams I do have are my former gym teams and the original team i beat the in game elite four. The E4 team predates EV training and IV breeding. But I loves them *sniffle* Yes I do, Yes I love you Luxray, Garchomp, Spiritomb(never mind I traded half the team) Ahem. Where was I?

How many others are out there in the same boat as mysel. Where you really want to challenge the gym leaders; but have yet to train or even breed a team?

If it counts mine is all written down on paper. o3o

I'm sorta in the same boat. I have 3 outta 6 pokes for sure I know I like to use and work well with. The other 3 I'm still deciding. I have some pokes fully trained and ready to go, but it's just a matter of who I want on my team...and then working up the courage to face the gym leaders ^^;

oh we're not all that bad. some of our pokes may bite, but we wont
in all seriousness, you learn a lot from battling us. it wont be fun and easy, but all the battling will expose you to a number of tactics and strategies - some which you will adopt yourself.

Ah, well that's a relief lol. Yeah, I hear you gym leaders are tough (as I'm sure you're suppose to be). I just think I need a little more battle experience before I really tackle some heavy battles.

Nothing taught me better than having an electivire used in the beacon gym. Once I charged one up it swept. :( Made me terrified to ever use electric moves ever again.

At first I was in the same boat as the rest of you. But now I've got several teams that I think could do well against the gyms. But I choose not to get the badges for a variety of reasons.

I say go for it if you think you're ready but don't a moment before then.

For the battle frontier in pokemon emerald i trained night and day. I would go find my favorite pokemon and train them to level 50, because level 100 was too far away. when I started emerald over I uploaded all of them to pearl. now I have 16 level fifty pokemon with epic movesets and that are meant to work together in teams of three. they include: jolteon, flygon, houndoom, blaziken, aerodactyl, heracross, absol, claydol, ampharos, espeon, blastoise, salamence, lanturn, miltank, whiscash, and steelix. now they are just sitting in a box. I can't really use them in gym battles; they weren't bred for stats or natures, just moves, like heracross knows megahorn, and he's only level 50. (usually learns it at 52.) I tried to challenge, and actually did better than I thought against Nikola, I believe it was 2-0, correct me if I'm wrong. But i really don't think I can go anywhere else with them. it's a problem.

on another note that's not my life story, I am currently breeding a sandstorm team, so once that's done, all them leaders better watch out, jawz is coming to town!!!

what, like nidoking?

oh shoot!!

actually I decided against nidoking, he just wasn't quite good enough because I was considering him for a special sweeper. yeah, I know. that was my whole.
but anyways, no nidoking for this guy.

Well, I'm just gonna say good luck to everyone whose challenging the gym leaders. Sure, getting a badge is awesome, but just remember the most important part is having fun. In addition (and some may shoot me for saying this) use the pokemon you like and feel you work with well. Forget about obsessing over stats, yadda yadda yadda. IMO, just makes the whole thing more enjoyable if you use who you like.

I can't wait till I get my whole team ready to go :D

I'm not that scary am I?

As for my league challenge... I don't have a team even on paper. So you're ahead of me Nik!

But the end of month tourney is looking like it will be fun! I'm planning my team for that at the moment. I hope there's enough water types for everyone to have a unique team.

I challenged a few before the shiny badges came out, but when the shiny badges came out I just decided that I wanted them and would have to rebreed most of my team. But... I'm sortof slow at breeding....
And I've got a couple of pokemon that I really really really want to breed and make awesome... But I don't really get much time, when I do have time I get bored.

Lol, I was in the same spot not so long ago. I would suggest to everyone that you try out your team in Shoddy, it really helps to catch those mistakes in it. Smogon is cool and a very good reference (especially when it comes to EV distribution) but I think too many people rely SOLELY on what they say and don't take the time to create their own, unique movesets. I still use that site to get ideas and then tailor my pokemon according to that. Haven't tried Shoddy though. Looks interesting. They have tornys using that thing don't they?

The thing with Smogon is that whatever they have is usually the best. I mix up the sets a lot of times, and make my own EV spreads.

Yeah that's true I guess. Sometimes, I'll take moves from their different sets and just combine them to make my own. Or I just make my own lol. Either way it's still a handy site. Pretty much that and serebii is the pokemon trainer's ultimate guide

I am currently working on a team of my favorite pokemon. Not the best, or most OU, but my favorite. Heck it doesnt even have the standard spread wall, special sweeper, staller etc.,

I know I can get the badges with tried and true OU techniques. What about using my favorites? Non cohesive. Currently half are trained. I'm going to try to PWN you gym leaders looks out!

I'm SO in this boat... I really want to battle, but I don't want to go for Gyms until I'm ready with a well-balanced team of 6 well-bred Pokemon with my OT. Right now, I have one fully IV/EVd Pokemon of my own (a SWEET Honchkrow), plus an IV-trained, partially EV-trained Shuckle with my OT (I think the EVs are messed up...), a Weavile from FG, and five to seven Pokemon left from Poke Academy, etc. that are IV trained, but not EV trained (still too confused and unmotivated to do it). I want to get going on my Shellos event, too, which gives me another team member, but I've found a lack of time and motivation. For some reason, the aspect of breeding sounds less fun now... :(

Yeah, but your Pokemon are, like, amazing! I'm kinda surprised you're not already a "Champeen." :-D

So, question to the site's big battlers: Do you guys just keep all sorts of bred Pokemon in boxes and just pull out different teams, or do you just stick with one team most or all of the time?

You know, now I don't feel as bad about having 92 waiting to be EV trained.... I'm trying to get it down to 2 boxes. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time and energy to do something as involved as EV training so it doesn't get done.

I currently have three boxes of pokemon that are EV trained. One of those boxes are ones that I'm still collecting data on and deciding if I want to use them consistantly. :) If you count gen. 3 games then I have at least anouther box. IRL friend doesn't have a DS or Gen. 4 game so we battle sometimes with the link cord thing. :-D Some of them I plan on using after I palpark them over to Gen 4. Move Tudors FTW! lol

I filled up my ranch about a month ago. I believe I got my mew on August 9th, but I could have filled it up sooner had I put all the ditto on my ranch instead of keeping them on my second pokemon game. So now I have a full ranch and the boxes on my main game are almost full. I've been trying to get rid of the random ones I don't need, but it's easier said than done.

I wish that we could install Pokemon ranch 10 times on the same wii. Then I'd never have to worry about having no room. >.>
