:445: 445 Garchomp

Mach Pokémon: When it folds up its body and extends its wings, it looks like a jet plane. It flies at sonic speed.

Ability: Sand Veil - Evasion increases by 20% in a sandstorm.

Types: Ground & Dragon

Evolve - Gible - Gabite. Gible found in Wayward Cave.

Base Stats
HP 108
Attack 130
Defense 95
Special Attack 80
Special Defense 85
Speed 102

Total: 600

Swords Dancing
Nature: Jolly / Adamant
Item: Yache Berry / BrightPowder / Life Orb
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Speed
Moves:
Swords Dance
Earthquake
Outrage / Dragon Claw
Fire Fang

This is the standard version of Garchomp that elevated this pokemon to Uber status.

It you plan to use Swords Dance consistantly, Jolly is the best nature.
Skarmory and Levitate Bronzong are resistant to its two STABed attacks, so the Fire Fang is the required 4th attack.

Garchomp may have a 4X weakness to ice, but with Yache berry, its reduced to a 2X weakness. It requires a powerful STABed Ice attack to take him down in one shot. When teamed with Tyranitar and holding the BrightPowder, its evasion is at 28%.

Physical Attacker
Nature: Adamant / Jolly
Item: Choice Band / Choice Scarf / Expert Belt / Life Orb
Evs: 6 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Speed
Moves:
Earthquake
Outrage / Dragon Claw
Fire Fang
Shadow Claw / Stone Edge / Brick Break / Crunch

130 base physical attack, good speed and good attack choices make this an effective set.

Mixed Attacker
Nature: Mild / Rash
Item: BrightPowder / Expert Belt / Life Orb
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Special Attack
Moves:
Earthquake
Outrage / Dragon Claw
Stone Edge
Fire Blast

This set replaces Fire Fang with Fire Blast to take care of Steel type pokemon. Flamethrower and Draco Meteor are other options.

Surprize...its a Special Attacker
Nature: Modest / Timid
Item: Choice Specs / Expert Belt / Life Orb
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Special Attack / 252 Speed
Moves:
Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse
Fire Blast / Flamethrower
Surf

This set actually makes a pretty good lead pokemon. You will often catch someone switching in their physical wall with a powerful special attack. Limited attack choices and 50 points of base attack difference make this set very rogue, but fun.

Substitute along with Brightpowder is a wonderful way to abuse Sand Veil. It is left up to chance sometimes, but it works more often then not. Sub up, and SD up until you feel comfortable to be able to sweep. Keeping your Sub up will prolong your life expectancy when dealing with a poke that is faster. (ex: Starmie)

Outrage/Dragon Claw along with Fire fang is only resisted by Heatran, who would be terrified to switch in, provided he does not know all 4 moves.

Outrage/Dragon Claw along with EQ provides devastating attacks, as both are STABed. They are resisted by Steel + Levitate/Flying however. Bronzong and Skarmory, both 2 common pokemon are able to take the hits extremely well.

These sets are all very good and could sweep a team, but none of them scream uber. But i have seen so unique sets in battles i dotn no the evs and hold items but they included

Roar
Dig
Dragon Rush
Brick Break

I think the hold item is the one that increases accuracy of moves (so dragon rush hits.

Dig on a garchomp?

anywhoo, with the move smogon did for garchomp into ubers, ill post an uber set

Garchomp @ yache/haban berry
Ability: Sand Veil
Nature: Jolly
Ev Spread: 6HP/252 atk/252 spe

Crunch
Outrage/dragon claw
Swords Dance
Earthquake

much like the yache chomp from OU, this one comes with a bit lacking in power because its running jolly instead of adamant to outrun speedy legendaries. since most of the Ubers tier are dragons, i put in the Haban berry as also an alternative to the yache seeing as rayquaza will be hitting hard with outrage. Crunch is very much needed seeing as most of all ubers are psychics and can hit for SE for the 2OHKO. Earthquake is for STAB, hitting dialga for superffective as he isn't weak to dragon typing, and everything else via non flying/levitating. Choice scarf variants will have to switch out SD for brick break/stone edge for coverage.

Ooh, I love these. I Love the one from Gouswer as that Is my Swords dancer

Physical Attacker

Fire Fang

130 base physical attack, good speed and good attack choices make this an effective set.

I as a preference always run Outrage with a choice Item. You'll be locked in anyway. You may want to try naughty instead of adamant and Naive instead of Jolly. This means you could run Fire blast :D

Mixed Attacker
Nature: Mild / Rash
Item: BrightPowder / Expert Belt / Life Orb
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Special Attack
Moves:
Earthquake
Outrage / Dragon Claw
Stone Edge
Fire Blast

This set replaces Fire Fang with Fire Blast to take care of Steel type pokemon. Flamethrower and Draco Meteor are other options.

I've personally always found this set to be worst of than 'mences. It is feasible though. It could serve a nice lead if you ran draco meteor. You could then use the physical side to get rid of the others

This'll definatly wreak havok on most physical walls. Just Predict and Kill, Opening up the ability to allow things like Salamece to rip through others teams
