Now that I'm running a gym, and don't necessarily have to use only Pokemon bred by me, I can run a contest that I've always wanted to run, and having the gym will make it all that much more fun!

YOU MAKE THE TEAM!

The basics of this contest is fairly simple, I want to see what type of Pokemon you would design if you were the Boulder Gym leader, I want to see what innovative battling minds we have out there on Pokefarm. To enter this contest you will be breeding and training a Pokemon of your choice to be judged by myself and a couple other judges (hopefully).

The prize? I will use the winning Pokemon regularly in Boulder Gym battles and a full write up on this Pokemon will be kept within the Boulder Gym archives. I will also design a badge/medal deal which will also be credited to future gym contests that are run. In return for the winning Pokemon, I will also try to arrange a Pokemon themed item to be sent to you as a Real Life prize as well.

Lets get down to business - Here are the Rules

Pokemon must be fully EV trained with the EV spread recorded.
Pokemon must fit with the Boulder Gym's typing restrictions (Rock and/or Flying)
Pokemon must be bred by the person entering. (See, we care about breeding!!)
Pokemon must be nicknamed.
Pokemon must be effective in battling. (or do whatever it is designed to do)
You must also submit a write-up describing the strategy when using the entered Poke, and why the Nature/Moveset/Ability was chosen.

Other than that, its wide open, here is the judging criteria -

There will be a total of 50 points granted.

10 possible for IV breeding
10 possible for Effectiveness
10 possible for Strategic Description
20 possible for Originality

I will send each entry a PM with a breakdown of how it was scored for feedback!

Please post if you would like to enter, as well as any questions you like in this thread, though be careful about exposing any secrets or strategies if you're planning on entering!

Entries should be submitted by November 20th (this gives you 2 weeks!)

And think of it this way: If you lose, you still get your awesome Pokemon back, if I'm thinking correctly!

I've started to see some response here and through PM's regarding this contest, Let me say that I am very very excited to see what you all come up with!!

I suppose I better get busy in identifying my judges! :P

A quick clarification - the pokemon does not need to be completely finished within the 2 week time period, but your plan does. Once a winner is identified, I will contact them and perform a trade inspection/full trade to gain that pokemon. Once it is deemed acceptable, the winner will be announced.

I do ask that you have the poke bred and ready to EV train when you enter your submission (this should be self explanitory since you need to have the IV's listed on the submission)

Is there any way I can enter it unbred? If I set a goal to surpass?

Here are the top two entries received. Remember that there was a total of 50 points possible!

First, in 2nd place is S Tailor with his submission of a wonderful Yanmega! I wont divulge all the secrets here, but here is the scoring with some comments:

IV Breeding: 10/10 Here we gave 5 points per 31 which quickly allowed a full 10 points here!
Effectiveness 9.5/10 Using the strategy explained this has tools to disable probably 2 members of the other team, 2 for 1 is near ideal.
Description: 8.5/10 The description was very clearly written, described your decisions very well.
Originality: 13.5/20 As you mentioned the moveset is pretty standard, your HP helps with this also. Very nice job, This is definitely a pokemon that I wouldn't hesitate to use on my team.

Total score: 41.5/50

In first place, our winner is MeowthMix with his entry of a very unique and potentially powerful Drifblim.

Here is the scoring here:

IV Breeding: 10/10 4 total 31's, you get the max!
Effectiveness: 8.5/10 Using the strategy you describe, I think Drifblim will give me an excellent chance to get 2 for 1.
Strategy Description: 6/10 You did a good job describing the battling strategy which we loved, however we were missing explanations for your Nature and EV spread which would have been nice to see.
Originality 19/20 Normally when you try to be too original you lose a ton of effectiveness, I think you found a great way to bring something original and still stay competitive, even with a UU pokemon - Great Job!!

Total Score: 43.5

As you can see it was extremely close between the top two competitors!

I will be making arrangements to take possession of the Drifblim shortly and it will become a vital member of my team from here on out.

I will also be designing a badge for MeowthMix for being a great pokemon designer - and this will become an ongoing competition, perhaps not always for the Boulder Gym Team, but in some way or another will be a continuing contest for a while.

Thank you to all who submitted, and for everyone else who showed interest in the contest!!

A special thank you goes out to our EPFL Champion and Beacon Gym Leader Alirrath for being our 2nd judge!

Eep, this is great! To bad I can't destroy people with the Driftblim anymore, but now you can! ^_^ I hope it goes well

Grats to S Tailor, also.
