Greetings!
I wanted to post the details for EPFL Season 2 now, before the holidays to give plenty of time for any team tweeking that needs to be done.
When: January 2, 2009.
What: EPFL Season 2
Details:
Tier: OU and below according to tiers found in Battle Tower forum (Legendaries OK)
Type: 6v6, lvl 50
Matches: Best 2 of 3 Battles
Pairing Method: Modified Swiss, Single-elim Top 8.
Clauses: OHKO, Sleep, Species,Evasion, Last Poke Explosion counts as loss.
Prizes: Top 4 receive a badge and get to 'draft pick' through a collection of prizes to be determined prior to the beginning of the season.
How to sign-up: Please post in the 'EPFL Season 2 Sign-up' thread with your name and FC if not already in your user details, as well as an acknowledgement that this is a several-week long tournament and you intend to battle through the end.
A note on signing up: Last season there was a lot of trouble with players that signed up who dropped out, or became un-responsive. With the swiss type battling, the next round is dependant on the previous round being completed as record determines the pairing. This season, if one party does not respond to a request for battle by the deadline, it will count as a match loss. If neither player responds the match winner will be determined by a coin flip. In this case, the winner will receive a point penalty to reduce the 'strength of victory' from that win.
The point is, don't sign up if you don't want to play - this is a larger scale tournament that will take several weeks to complete, though you will only have 1 opponent to battle each round so it should be smoother than the last season as far as that goes also.
Initially, I will limit participation to 16 battlers, first come first served - one spot will be preserved for last season's champion in order to give him an opportunity to defend his title.
