Ok, when you go to the Battle Tower or multiplayer and it sets the levels of all your Pokémon to 50 or 100, does anyone have any idea how it works it out? Do they just set the Pokémon's stats to what it would normally be at that level, then add/subtract EVs and IVs? I remember me and my friend had the same Pokémon with different stats, though. Does it matter if you catch it in the wild at a high level, providing it has the same EVs and IVs as a different Pokémon you trained from a low-level?

As far as I know the Battle Tower in Diamond and Pearl is only level 50 Battles. You will keep everything your Pokemon already has. Example EV's, IV's, and Moves. It only adjust your level to level 50 and your stats would be that of your IV's, EV's, and Natures. The only differance between a Wild Caught Pokemon if it was a high level says a Level 52 Pinsir(Leith look correct level no cheat, I am joking we cool?) and you go straight to the Battle tower it would have no EV's. With the same Pokemon Pinsir that you hatched from an egg at level 1 and you take it to the Battle Tower at level 52 it would have 51 levels of EV's making it stringer then a fresh caught Pokemon.

Is that the same not in the Battle Tower or Multiplayer battles, then? I mean, they've made such a fuss since Red/Blue how Pokémon trained from low levels are stronger than high level ones caught in the wild...So, if I had two level 80 Pinsirs, same nature/characteristics, one caught at 10 and another at 50, yet I trained them both on the same Pokémon and they'd both reached their 255 EV point limit, the Pokémon would be identical? (Excluding the fact the characteristics increase the stat it correlates to by a mostly random amount).

Not Identical. You would also have to figure in their IV's and Natures. IV's and Natures make the Pokemon, EV's are just a permanent stat booster.

Still, the one trained from the lower level won't have any greater chance of better stats? And I thought I mentioned IVs in my post when I said Natures/Characteristics identical? Even though the characteristic has a mostly random boost to the stat, but yeah.

Characteristics basicly tell you what your highest IV is for that Pokemon. So characteristics is not a random boost, it is the actual DNA for that stat.

Yeah, but doesn't each characteristic in each stat have 6 or 7 numbers that stat can go up in? Like one will have 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30, whilst another will have 2, 7, 12, 17, 22, or 27, and one of those numbers is randomly picked for that characteristic? Sorry if I'm making no sense, it's what I've been thinking this whole time though.

yeah but the characteristic that it shows is the Pokemons highest, so you kinda know it is not the 0, 5, or 10 half. If the Pokemons highest was a 5 or 0 then you would really know it by the uber suck sound your Pokemon would make while entering battle.(this is a joke)

Hah, cheers for the joke clarification. >.<
Anyway, I never realised that Pokémon had characteristics for every stat, but it only showed one! I thought only one stat received a boost, and it was mostly random how large that boost was. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

There has been some question about how jokes and sarcasm do not transfer well in the forums, so I was just making sure everyone knew it was a joke. One thing the internet will never take away is human interaction, wait it does that but I mean talking face to face you can tell when someone is joking or being sarcastic.
