View Full Version : Farmer On the Dell

Hey All!

Well this is my first attempt at mass distribution of my farmed pokemon, normally only do it for my own teams. I decided that it’s about time that I joined a farming community and seem to have found a great one residing at pokefarm.com.

Normally when I am farming, I tend to create pokes that will work well as a team. So, for my first offering I wanted a pokemon that would be a great initiator for almost any battle. For this, I created an Absol with a great normal-type move set. This absol contains the following moves:

Swords Dance
Double-Edge
Baton Pass
Perish Song

I envision this poke being used in one of three ways.

1. The no brainer is the use of Swords Dance and Double-Edge. Double-Edge has a power of 120 and 100% accuracy making it a pretty decent move even with the side effect of some damage. Combined with the fact that Absol has one of the higher attack stats in pokemon (assuming Neutral Nature), this makes this combination pretty lethal since Swords Dance raises the attack stat by two stages (200%) and an EV trained Absol with positive attack nature even more so.

2. Another great combo would be the use of Swords Dance and Baton Pass. Baton Pass is an awesome move that only a couple handful of pokemon can learn. This allows the Absol to switch out with another poke in your party and carry over the positive stat modifiers to that pokemon. So switch with a strong EV trained pokemon in attack with lots of STAB moves (see second pokemon below) and you get a super attacker.

3. The final way I envision Absol being used is through the combination of Baton Pass and Perish Song. Perish Song is one of the rarer moves to get on a pokemon because it is so effective.
“Any Pokemon that hears this song faints in three turns unless it switches out of battle.”
That’s where Baton Pass comes in handy with the ability of switching out. Plus, this would be one of the most deadly combinations with a very under used pokemon in Wobbuffet. Wobbuffet has an un-godly HP so EV trained in Defense and Sp. Defense would essentially create a juggernaut that could handle almost any attacks for 2+ more rounds. But what really makes Wobbuffet a key character in this is its ability: The opponent cannot run or switch out of battle. This essentially seals a death sentence for that pokemon in play with no pardon in sight!

As mentioned above, I like to create a team (or at least part of one) when I do my farming. So to round off a good half team, I have to have a good STAB character to utilize the Absol at its best. For this I chose one of my favorite pokemon: Heracross. This poke is really strong in the attack stat, carries a decent HP for longevity and has more strong STAB attacks than you can shake a stick at. The move set I settled on is as follows:

Brick Break (STAB)
Close Combat (STAB)
Reversal (STAB)
Megahorn (STAB)

So that rounds out this post. If you care for an Absol or Heracross, just post or message and I will do my best to respond as quickly as possible.

I named all of my Absols after elements of my profession (chemistry). Heracross’ are after the best time of the year, baseball playoffs, and are named after pitchers in the Hall Of Fame.

One thing I have not been able to do because of time constraints (a four week old baby boy and dissertation do that to you) is to work on the IV portion for these guys. I have been able to maximize the positive Natures for both so there really shouldn’t be anything detrimental (like lowered attack natures) on these guys.

I really don’t care what pokemon you give me but items would be great, more specifically Rare Candies to aid in the IV training.

Narnad, I would feel bad for anyone going up against you if you are a gym leader on these forums, or at all in fact! I wish I knew as much about raising my pokes as you and some of the other farmers/breeders here.

Cool. i have been thinking about breeding an Absol but i wasn't sure what moveset. this make it easier for me. i had been culminating about Swords Dance / Baton pass combo and i had such a headache trying to figure out how i can get baton pass since only few breedable pokemon have them.

This is definitely what i am looking for to train. May i have one of your Absol please.

i have rare candies. please let me know when i can claim the Absol. Thanks.

On most sites Wobbuffet is considered in the same group as legendaries. Wobbuffet is usually banned from standard competitive play however, both for the risk of two Wobbuffets facing one another (and forcing a draw) and because of it's unbalanced and game-breaking power.

Thanks Bug for that info. I had no clue about that rule.

I guess to get around that rule you could use Mean Look on a poke, more specifically on an Umbreon since that poke has super high sp. def., def and a decent HP value to last through any incoming attacks. The ability to prevent the poke from leaving wouldn't be instantaneous (as with Wobbuffet) but if you EV train it in the speed category (since umbreon has only a low/med speed stat) a player should still have the high chance to keep the perish song singing away. :)

Not everyone uses that rule. I have not seen it listed in any of the tournaments here so far. I just know it is one of those oddball rules. It would be a good breed though. People will always want one and could use it whenever they were aloud.

During my research, i've read that "UBER" pokemon includes Legendaries and get this Wobboffet. my first thought was, was it a mistake? but yeah, they can be.

In Fact, Celebi and Jirachi did not make it to the Uber list. i assume Shaymin too. ^_^

WOW! ...sometimes I feel so dumb compared to some of you breeders.

I have been a fan of pokemon since the very beginning...I've played all the games, I've watched the shows and collected the toys.

But my mathamatics, breeding abilities, and battle tactics are no were close to some of you. I'd love to know how you guys find the time to learn all this.

I love this site and have thought about battling in the gym battles to get badges for my profile but if the gym leaders are as knowlegable as the breeders I will never have a chance.

So yeah...where was I going with this...

Oh yeah, :-) can I have an absol and a heracross please...if not just a heracross (still don't have one of those).

I would not recommend my method of learning all there is to know about Pokemon, not that I know it all. Just my method is a bit pain staking. I was in a car wreck back in June and have had 5 months of doing nothing, but playing Pokemon and surfing the internet for answers to questions about Pokemon. Sure I learned a lot, but it is not on my top 10 list of things I wnt to do again.

Wow!!! The absol you gave me has an IV of 31 for everything except for Defense...which is 0...Holy :(:(:(:(....Am I lucky...or did you breed with amazing IVed parents?!

Must have been luck. I have never really dabbed around much with the IV's on these guys. But I have bread a ton of them to get the right natures and I did do some EV work with the parents before breeding, so maybe that helped out a bit with the luck.

To respond to Bugs comment, I also was layed up for a period of time too (only 2 months here). I broke both my tibia and fibia in my right leg when I slid into second during one my baseball games and had to have surgery. So I have also been stuck at home with only the internet and pokemon. Without either of them, I would of gone stir crazy in the house. Must be something to it I guess....but as you said, I wouldn't suggest this to anyone reading out there by any means. Hehe

well...EV's dont influence the offspring's IVs...I guess I got lucky then....but you should really find out the IV's of the parents....they might be awesome!!

Well at least I know that if I was to have an accident that put me on bed rest...the time it took to heal would be time well spent.

I have a job and two kids at home and just finding time to play and trade seems to be a feet in itself sometimes.

Thanks for the comments! :-D

That is why my son helps me with all my Pokemon. He is only 3, so I do the bulk of the work, but he usually picks the Pokemon I will be breeding. He even helps with move-sets sometimes. He doesn't fully understand the moves, but that one sounds so silly, so it gets added. I also get him to do a lot of the bike riding to hatch eggs he-he.

I do require a heracross...if you have one to spare, I'd gratefully appreciate it! ^_^

Maybe I should just go on a short hiatus from work (it keeps interrupting my pokemon training) :^(

But I'd like an absol if you don't mind. I have a rare candy or three I can trade if you need them. Hopefully I'll have many more soon I'm about 1/4 of the way through on my pick-up teams training.
