    Default September 09 Tournament - Kanto Klassics wrap up & Discussion

    Well, it took a while but the battles were fought and winners were determined. Congratulations to Baguio on winning the Kanto Klassics tournament!

    I'm curious what folks thoughts were on the tournament. What did folks think of the structure? The metagame? The rules set?

    And now that it is all over, this it the place to discuss things openly as you don't have to worry about giving away your teams anymore.

    The tourney was a lot of fun, in my opinion.

    If Paiopa doesn't mind me linking to a couple of his videos:
    First battle against Paiopa
    Second battle against Paiopa
    After that first battle, I switched up my team (not sure which team I used against lil_ash), and I was surprised to see it work somewhat well. My lead Alakazam is supposed to use the TrickSpecs combo...but I think every time I used it, I just ended up using a Psychic or two instead, lol.

    The structure was fine; no issues there. I must say, though, that the one legendary I faced (on Whit's team) was definitely a pain. I also thought it was interesting (though somewhat predictable) to see the most common Pokemon in the tourney. I'd say from my viewpoint that Starmie and Gyarados were both pretty common; I personally used them both at some point, lol. It was fun, though, to see some of the more unique Pokemon--take Scyther, for example--something I didn't expect to see but was a huge threat to me in my first battle. It's always cool to see some of the lesser-used Pokemon shine.

    Great job, everyone; I look forward to the next tourney! ^_^

    @Trombones13: I don't mind at all

    I also thought the tournament was really enjoyable. Being kanto only, it provided a trip down memory lane sort of. There were some unique pokemon used in the tournament, which made it interesting as Trombones13 pointed out. I definitely had some really close battles. My closest would have had to been with Flareon. That battle left both of us on the edge our seat!

    The rules were good. Item clause as always provides more of a challenge, but I personally don't mind it. It makes you think more outside the box. Double elimination also took a lot of stress out of competiting, and I believe this encouraged more participants. It's good to have some solid competitiveness going on in a tournament, but let's face it, fun is the major factor that keeps it all going and fun this tournament indeed was.

    It was a fun tournament; specifically for my first on PokeFarm. The battle between me and Paiopa was my favourite, too; it had the kind of intensity you'd expect from a Final, lol! I didn't really change much of my team for this one; mainly because I didn't have much to switch with.

    Feedback, eh? Keep different versions of the brackets (if you didn't before) so that you can reference back if something goes wrong, like it did here. It doesn't really bother me, but ShadowMario3 jumped two battles on the Losers' brackets because he wasn't added to them after his first loss; that's a pretty big oversight. I believe keeping multiple versions will aid more in managing who goes where for a future Double Bracket tournament.

    Other than that, I can't really think of anything else to comment on. The rules were fine, though Item Clause is always a pain for me, being a user of Pokemon Battle Revolution-- but its just a matter of inconvenience for me. I can't pass comment on allowing Legendaries, since none of my opponents used them.

    Good going to all who participated-- and congratulations to baguio for winning. ^^

    it was a great tournament (and im not saying that because i won )

    i liked it being double elimination it made me less woried about losing since we could take another try. the rules were a chalenge i never tried doing a team with pokes from just one generation and facing the legendaries birds is always hard but nothing that a lot of luck cant help, and im alread used to item clause so its ok

    @flareon, Jhamin : thanks =D

    btw do i get a cool badge *0*?
